Travel is Back On: Book These Flights While They're Still Cheap

Now that the city has lifted its entry quarantine rule, Beijingers who have been itching to travel quickly snatched up flight tickets, resulting in airfare out of the capital to skyrocket by 15 times what it had been, according to data from Qunar.

This massive restoration of demand is yet to have a substantial effect on lowest-price domestic tickets within the next month, however, some major routes over the holiday have surpassed RMB 1,000, and East Money predicts that rising prices will likely hit routes beyond the holiday. That means that if you’re planning a much-anticipated trip out of the city, now is the time to book.

Of course, the ban on foreign passport holders entering China is still on, so foreigners should not consider flying internationally unless they don’t plan on coming back. Avoid going to Guangzhou and Heilongjiang as well, because those areas are not yet classified as low-risk, and going there will mean you have to quarantine after returning to Beijing. Instead, here are some other tempting domestic flights available now on Feizhu to snatch up while they’re still on the cheap (accessible through Alipay – listed under 'Air & Rail' – or via the Feizhu app):

Beijing-Shanghai: RMB 233+
Tickets to Shanghai are currently available for under RMB 350 every day between May 2-22.

Beijing-Xi’an: RMB 290+
Tickets to Xi’an are currently available for RMB 290 on May 4 and every day between May 6-9.

Beijing-Kunming RMB 370
Tickets to Kunming are currently available for under RMB 400 every day between May 2-10.

Beijing-Hangzhou: RMB 237+
Tickets to Hangzhou are currently available for under RMB 280 every day between May 8-31.

Beijing-Chengdu: RMB 320+
Tickets to Chengdu are currently available for under RMB 400 every day between May 3-4, 18-19, 23-27, and 30-31.

Beijing-Changsha: RMB 320+
Tickets to Changsha are currently available for under RMB 440 every day between May 14-19
