CCTV Headquarters

To celebrate the launch of Qianmen Kitchen by BSK, a new restaurant featuring the best of Chinese and Western home cooking, plus global cooking classes (we'll have more news on this soon), Black Sesame Kitchen are throwing a Mid-Autumn Festival party on Oct 1 featuring mooncake making and tea and dumpling tastings, as well as guided and self-guided tours of their hutong neighborhood. Tickets are priced at RMB 150 per person at the door, and there will be two sessions running from 9-11am and 2-4pm. See the event listing for more information.
New hot and spicy menu items at Great Leap

Inspired by their recent launch in Chengdu, Great Leap have launched two spicy new menu items. The chili cheeseburger (RMB 70) is topped with spicy chili con carne and pickled peppers, while the Hanyuan ma wings (RMB 65) really lean into the Sichuan inspiration with a spicy and numbing sauce infused with huajiao (aka Sichuan pepper). Pro-tip: if you like your wings saucey, add extra hot and numbing sauce for just RMB 5. The burger and wings are available at Great Leap's Lido and #45 locations.

Brasserie 1893 launches new a la carte menu

Brasserie 1893 at the Waldorf Astoria has launched a new a la carte menu created by head chef Addison Liew. Fusing modern French cuisine with local elements, the menu is inspired by the changing seasons and includes organic produce from farms on the outskirts of Beijing. Signature dishes from the new menu include New Zealand blue prawn with minestrone soup, Dutch milk-fed veal tenderloin with seasonal mushrooms, kidney beans, and morel sauce, and a duo of New Zealand and Inner Mongolian lamb with quinoa, black garlic, and yogurt sauce.

Migas Mercado resumes all-day kitchen hours

In another sign of recovery for Beijing's restaurant industry, Migas Mercado's kitchen has resumed all-day operations, serving food from 11.30am-11pm. So now you can chow down on excellent tapas dishes created by Migas's head chef Miguel Zapata at any time you please (don't miss the paella).
Forno Sanlitun now in soft opening

Following the success of the launch of Forno in Sanyuanqiao, the Sanlitun branch is now in soft opening. Expect more of the Roman-style pies that have already become a hit with Beijing's pizza lovers, along with other Roman-centric snacks and dishes. From Oct 1-6, scan to follow their account and land yourself a free slice. Meanwhile, the venue will host a late-night DJ party each Wednesday. Find Forno on the third floor of Taikoo Li Sanlitun South.
