EAT: Your bite-sized guide to the best eats to be had in Beijing this week.

Mosto's daily set lunch returns, plus Thursday night dinner series

Mosto's set lunch menu, surely one of Beijing's most popular lunch deals, is once again being served during weekdays, having only been available on Friday for most of this year. Priced at RMB 128 for three courses, the menu will vary, but you can expect core options to remain the same, with different sides and twists, from Josper grilled beef tenderloin and seared salmon to risotto and Icelandic sea bass. Vegetarian options will always be on offer, and vegan dishes can be accommodated upon request. Add a cheeky glass of house wine or sparkling for just RMB 38.

In other news at Mosto, they have launched the "Make Merry" dinner series, which will run every Thursday night until Dec 17. Escape into a private area of the restaurant, and enjoy an intimate family-style dinner surrounded by Christmas decorations. Each menu will be unique, crafted by Chef Daniel Urdaneta, and only for a limited number of persons, so advance bookings are required. Each dinner is priced at RMB 450 per person; to book add WeChat ID: norristangen
Qu Lang Yuan's New Winter Menu

The hidden hutong restaurant specializing in fine fusion cuisine that is Qu Lang Yuan has updated their seasonal menu and is now offering an eight-course lunch set that thoroughly succeeds in both riding the line between Chinese and Western cuisine and getting lunchers tipsy with a series of wines (both grape and rice) that, like the ingredients of the meal, challenge the notion that local wines can't be excellent. The lunch begins with sturgeon caviar dish with sweet potato and artichoke sauce served on Jeruselum artichoke skin, followed by a refreshing congee and then diners dig their spoons into a snail shell filled with Changdao and white snail, butter sauce, and sweet bean. Later, duck from Pingu, lamb shoulder from Hebei, and trout from Miyun will fill you up before a light dessert of crispy Yunnan cheese and persimmon sauce. The lunch is priced at RMB 588 per person.

New winter dishes at Daruma

Nali patio izakaya Daruma has launched a number of new winter dishes, focusing on hearty, warming items that pack an umami punch. The dishes include a nourishing tori chanko nabe (chicken sumo hot pot, RMB 198) brimming with chicken bone broth, chicken pieces, chicken meatballs, and vegetables (pictured above), as well great drinking snacks such as deep-fried shishamo fish or Pacific jack mackerel (both RMB 58) and spicy Japanese sausage. Alternatively, fancy things up a bit with the salmon carpaccio with caviar (RMB 78).
Nov 20: All-you-can-eat cheese fondue at Zarah
