EAT: Your bite-sized guide to the best eats to be had in Beijing this week.
Courtyard 4 (the area with The Local, Q Mex, and Taco Bar) has an exciting new addition in the form of Spanish restaurant Bobomia. The restaurant has a striking modern design and a menu created by well-known chef Raul Liu, who has worked in and designed menus for restaurants around the world. Bobomia's menu features both classic dishes like roast suckling pig and more modern interpretations like fresh tuna salad with organic tomatoes and a basil vinaigrette. Now is a great time to head over there and try it, as they have three great deals running until May 14, including 20 percent off food, buy-one-get-one-free wine by the glass, and buy one bottle of wine and get the second for 50 percent off. We'll have a full review for you soon.
May 8: Venezuelan-inspired dinner at The Hutong
After they hosted a successful Venezuelan culinary journey hosted in March, The Hutong has invited Venezuelan architect Romer Valera from Be Our Guest back into their kitchen to host a dinner featuring a specially-designed new menu of typical Venezuelan flavours with a twist. Enjoy dishes like tartaletas de atún, pie crust bites topped with Venezuelan-style cream cheese tuna dip, and asado negro, beef tenderloin in a traditional dark sauce. Dinner is priced at RMB 398 per person.
Hatsune's off-menu special dish for the month of May is a beef tataki carpaccio. The dish fuses Italian carpaccio with the Japanese tataki cooking technique, featuring well-marbled beef flame-seared on the edges tataki style and plated with quail eggs, micro greens, and shredded nori. The dipping sauce is a combination of yuzu vinaigrette, shredded daikon, and shiso. The dish is priced at RMB 118 and is available at all Hatsune branches.
