TFBoy Yi Yangqianxi posts a super cool Beijing life vlog

After several months’ “missing” from the spotlight due to film shooting, TFBoy Yi Yangqianxi reappeared in the public eye with a super-cool vlog posted on his Weibo account last Wednesday, showing the everyday life of Beijing. The black-and-white short video sees food vendors, sanitation workers, guards, and other everyday workers all rise to the level of protagonists in front of his lens. With a 1990s’ Beijing rock song playing in the background and some ingenious editing, the vlog gives a strong sense of dark humor and reflects Yi’s genuine creativity.

It’s not the first time that one of Yi’s vlog has made a splash online. Three months ago, another video titled “Front seat theatre” attracted millions of views, in which he talks about his childhood in Beijing, the changes inthe neighborhood, and his favorite fried chicken eatery.

Yi has made remarkable achievements in acting in recent years, such as the Oscar-nominated film Better Days in 2019 and the box office smash A Little Red Flower in 2020. Intentionally or not, he’s managing to shed off the old image of “little fresh meat” (a nickname that refers to young and good-looking idols with a large fan base but are usually considered not capable in the profession). With such leaps and bounds of progress, Yi has gained a reputation in the business, which has significantly increased his access to resources. His part in the upcoming mainstream film Chanjin Lake 长津湖 cháng jīn hú just finished shooting on May 18, in which he plays a soldier fighting in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea between 1950 to 1953.

Chinese actress seen hanging out with rapper on Chang'anjie

Chinese actress Jin Chen and rapper Dany Lee enjoyed a girl’s night out on Thursday, May 20. The two were spotted hanging out together near Tian’anmen Square, hand in hand, seeming quite intimate.

In a video snapped by paparazzi, Jin and Lee were taking a stroll along the Chang'anjie in the evening, hand in hand and fingers entwined with fingers. They talked while walking, sometimes stopping to take a selfie and bursting into laughter every now and then. The scene gave rise to speculation that the outing was in fact a date, as May 20 is considered one of China's most romantic days due to the way the number 520 supposedly sounds like “I love you (wǒ ài nǐ)” in Chinese.

Both born in 1990, Jin is a popular actress from Shandong’s capital city Jinan and graduated from Beijing Dance Academy. She's gained recognition in recent years because of her excellent performances in TV dramas like The Legend of Qin 秦时明月 qín shí míng yuè and the online drama Dear Missy 了不起的女孩 liǎo bù qǐ de nǚ hái. Lee is a rapper who debuted in a singing talent show in 2011, winning the 6th place in the final. The two met in a survival show called Sisters Who Make Waves 乘风破浪的姐姐 chéng fēng pò làng de jiě jie in 2020 as team members and soon became good friends.

Another celebrity couple break up

While ordinary people go out for a romantic date on May 20, one celebrity couple chose to celebrate the day by announcing their divorce. Chinese actor and director Chen Sicheng posted a photo of his wife and son on Weibo, saying “2011–2020, that’s the end of our story… You will always be the most important person in my life.” His wife, actress Tong Liya, responded with a “thank you” post in the meantime, drawing the couple's marriage to a close.

Chen and Tong were once happily married, but things change

It’s alleged that the couple officially divorced last year, but it remains a secret why they chose to make the announcement a year later. The couple went through a marriage crisis in 2017 when Chen had an affair with two women at a nightclub and was caught on camera by paparazzi. At that time, Tong chose to forgive him publically. However, many celebrity watchers guessed that her choice was based in the fact that the two were bonded with too much mutual interest in the industry and because Chen may have needed Tong's support to promote his ready-to-go film at that time. The divorce didn’t shock or disappoint netizens. On the contrary, thousands of comments stating user's congratulation appeared under Tong’s Weibo post. Some users even started a prize drawing campaign to celebrate that Tong finally got rid of the playboy.

Tong and Chen met in 2012 in the film Beijing Love Story 北京爱情故事 běi jīng ài qíng gù shì directed by Chen. Their wedding was held in Tahiti in 2014 and they welcomed a baby boy in 2016.
