Dege’s Chicken Fingers
One thing we’ve always found odd about fast food in China is that despite the popularity of fried chicken, international chains opted not to include chicken tenders on their menus. Well, now a local shop is stepping in to fill the void at Sanyuanqiao.
Dege’s Chicken Fingers is serving up juicy tenders fried with buttermilk and served with fries and dipping sauce. To drink, grab yourself a lemonade. And that’s about it! No fancy flare, just tendies.

Yilouyi Hot Pot
Yilouyi isn’t the first Hong Kong-style hot pot restaurant in Sanlitun, but it may be the first that actually makes you feel like you’ve just stepped into that island city – or at least a rustic version of it. Its huge dining hall-like space takes things up a level beyond the typical neon signs, providing a lively environment for downstairs diners, while larger parties can still find some privacy up the iron staircases.
For the on-table hot pot (not installed in-table), the menu includes a few interesting twists like pork intestine and chive-covered duck blood, plus plenty of fish and other seafood. But there are also enough alternative options that you could avoid hot pot altogether, dining instead on roast pigeon, stinky tofu, and pot chicken.

And for dessert? Xingfucun has a new waffle shop, and there are plenty of options to choose from. In fact, you don’t even need to make it a sweet snack – the most popular waffle is the prosciutto with mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, and arugula.
For the fruity options, there’s apple (fresh with berries and cheese, or baked with cinnamon), strawberries, and banana. There’s even a chocolate-flavored waffle, though it comes with no additional toppings.
