Beijing is a happening city! Don't miss a thing with our weekend roundup of the latest news.
Sharebikes restricted parking to expand: This week, many Beijinger’s read headlines claiming that commercial sharebikes will be allowed in all districts in Beijing – referring to the news that the mountainous Mengtougou District, the last holdout of Beijing district, will finally allow sharebikes. However, this doesn’t mean that all areas in the suburbs will be free to park in, and riders should still be careful when riding out of the inner city lest they face fines. The real news affecting riders, though, is that the city will be expanding it’s Bluetooth-enabled “electronic fence” parking restrictions to 51 key subway stations this year, so mixed-method commuters should keep an eye out.
On track for a suburban railway system: Beijing has announced a five-year plan to construct China’s first suburban railway system, connecting major suburban hubs including Shunyi, Miyun, Huairou, Yanqing, Tongzhou, and Fangshan. The plans also tout integration with the city’s subway system.
Burger fest was a blast, despite the hiccups! And we're already preparing for ways to make next year's even better.
