Booze News: Spicy Beer Tap Takeover & More
Thirsty? Wet your whistle with Booze News, our wrap-up of the week's best deals, parties, concoctions, industry gossip, and more.
Capsaicin and craft beer are teaming up at five venues (all NBeer locations plus Tron Cafe in Dongzhimen) in Beijing to bring you a Spicy Beer Tap Takeover. Four brews from around China will be on tap to send your taste buds on fire. What are the beers you ask? You’ll just have to head on over and taste to find out!
Tonight at 8pm, your favorite tiny bar is opening its cassette collection. Drown yourself in a cocktail or a beer from the fridge and jam out with tunes in analog fashion. Most people don’t have their own but just in case you brought some cassettes you nabbed from your dad’s ’86 Honda Accord back home, you can bring it around and play it on their system.
It’s been over five years since Slow Boat has put their super high ABV Imperial IPA in a bottle. This 10 percent monster is the winter warmer that you are looking for. The first 100 units will be sporting a CNY-inspired box just in case you wanted to keep the empty bottles to remember the time you got sloshed celebrating.
For RMB 60, you can get a haircut and a free beer while celebrating the hutong life. This Jing-A tradition has been happening since 2016, and allows you to grab a beer, get a trim, and play in the winter sun. Head to Jing-A Longfusi this Saturday, Jan 22, from 12nn to 5pm and will be on a first come first served basis.
Jing-A is also bringing back an old favorite with their Imperial Yunnan Coffee Stout. Featuring rich roasted malts and aged with Jim Beam bourbon barrel oak for three months, this boozy beast – clocking in at 12 percent – gets an added boost from Yunnan coffee beans provided by Beijing coffee shop Daxiao, lending it chocolate, mocha and vanilla notes. Available on tap at all Jing-A locations from Jan 21.
