Where to Get Hot Cross Buns in Beijing
It’s almost Easter time and like any Western holiday, it can be a little difficult to get those home comforts that you’re craving during the holidays here in Beijing. A few years ago, I remember desperately trying to find hot cross buns to no avail! But luckily nowadays, there are actually quite a few different options in Beijing ranging from traditional, chocolate or even vegan and gluten-free!
There are two different flavors of hot
cross buns being offered up by the InterContinental Beijing Sanlitun: the classic
cinnamon with raisins and candied orange peel, or a more indulgent
chocolate option. They are available to order either in batches of 12 or
24 and the flavors can be mixed (minimum of 6 buns for each flavor).
You
can order either through their e-shop (scan the QR code on the poster above) or contact Ajit (WeChat ID: AJKinChina) to order. Delivery for
the buns is available throughout Beijing via Shansong, nationwide
through SF, or for pickup from the hotel is also possible
between 11am to 8pm. It’s recommended to order 24 hours in advance as
there are a limited number available each day.
Price: 12 for RMB 148, 24 for RMB 268
Jiangmaitang also has traditional hot
cross buns for sale. Although their normal products are available for
delivery through Meituan Waimai, their hot cross buns and other Easter
products such as chocolate eggs or a very tasty looking Easter cake have
to be ordered specially through a group chat (scan the QR code in the
poster above to join.) This is a great option if you’re only looking to
buy hot cross buns for yourself as orders of an individual bun are
available.

There are numerous different types of
hot cross buns on offer from Tianmi Bakery. They have three flavors on

raisins and hot cross buns with dark chocolate instead of raisins, as
well as a few vegan options available.

on offer such as chocolate eggs and rabbits which are perfect for
children (or adults, embrace your inner child!). Simply search for
Comptoirs de France on Meitaun Waimai to order. You may need to search
for the Chinese name (法派1855 fǎ pài 1855) for it to come up. Alternatively, go to one of their many branches in Beijing.

Lastly on our list of places to get hot
cross buns we have Le Petit Pain, another shop that is available on
Meituan or in-store (they have two locations).

the best option for anyone simply looking to celebrate Easter by
indulging in one hot cross bun because they can be ordered individually. And as they can be ordered through waimai, it can be ordered immediately,
