Fengtai Station to Open This Month: Beijing Fengtai Railway Station, which has been undergoing a complete redesign and renovation, is all set to open to the public on Jun 20, reports Beijing Daily. Originally built all the way back in 1898, Fengtai Station began renovation in 2018. The new and improved station will have two stories of track for trains, as well as a connection to the city’s subway. Trains from Fengtai will take passengers to Shijiazhuang, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, and even as far away as Guangzhou.

New Railway Station will Reduce Travel Time Between Beijing and Tianjin: Tianjin’s new Baodi Railway Station, which is set to be completed by September of this year, will reduce travel time between the two cities to 18 minutes, according to a report from the Xiaoxiang Morning Post. The new station is also a planned terminus for a new intercity rail line that will connect Tianjin and Beijing to smaller cities like Tangshan, Binhai, and Chengde.



City Plans to Open Nucleic Acid Testing Centers Outside Pharmacies: Five pharmacies in Pinggu District became the first in the region to provide free Covid testing services for residents, according to an announcement from the Beijing Police Department. The announcement says more of these pharmacy-located testing centers are planned in the near future, but it looks as if this will only happen when outbreaks die down in other districts. The report states that Pinggu currently only requires Covid tests ever 72 hours for residents, with only three 24-hour nucleic acid testing sites and three normal sites in the district at present.



Demand for Vegetables and Pork on the Rise in Capital: Pork prices are on the rise but vegetable prices remain stable in spite of an increase in demand for both following the resumption of in-house dining in most of Beijing, reports 新京报. The report adds that summer is usually a low season for meat and pork, so prices should drop in the near future.
