A Few Bars Where You Can Throw Some Darts in the 'Jing

Last week I covered some of the best bars in the capital to shoot some pool and now I’ll be turning my attention to another popular pub game: darts. With so many different variations of the game, and as both an individual and group sport it makes for some great casual fun to enjoy with friends.  

Paddy O’Sheas

As an Irish restaurant it should come as no surprise that you can play a bit of darts at Paddy O’Shea’s. Here they have two darts boards: one is located right by the bar in the original main section, and one is in the new section upstairs on the left. If you fancy playing some other pub games while here, in the upstairs section they also have a shuffleboard table. For those looking to play some serious, competitive darts they also have a darts league which you can join.

The Brick

A favorite amongst locals down in Shangjing (they even have numerous the Beijinger awards to prove it), this late-night bar has an electronic darts board upstairs. You’ll need to get a card from the bar in order to play which you can top up with money on the darts machine. For craft beer lovers they have loads of different bottled beers available, as well as beer on tap which can be ordered in liter steins if you want to go big.

Home Plate BBQ (Sanlitun branch)

This American barbecue joint has a darts board tucked away just to the left of their large square bar. This is a super convenient spot to play some darts because you don’t have to worry about anyone walking past so you can play completely uninterrupted. If you’re feeling hungry then you should definitely try some of their signature barbecued meats while throwing a few darts.

The Corner Bistro

Relatively new to Beijing’s food and drink scene, having only opened in March this year, The Corner Bistro is a happy addition to the places where you can play darts. Just like Home Plate, the darts board here is located out of the way, so again you don’t need to worry about stopping for people walking past. As the newest spot on this list the darts board hasn’t seen too much usage yet, so there’s a good chance it’ll have the least wear and tear too.

Ram Brewpub

Although famous for its art galleries, decorative graffiti and all around artsy vibes, 798 is also home to a number of great cafes and bars, with Ram Brewpub being one of them. This funky, artsy brewpub has two electronic darts boards over on the right side of their large open-plan space. If you’re looking for more fun entertainment, they also have a pool table, pinball machine and some retro arcade games.

Plan B

Another popular Shuangjing watering hole, as a sports bar it shouldn’t be too surprising that Plan B have a darts board. It’s tucked away right at the back of the bar and there is great news if you visit them this month, as you can also enjoy their special tenth anniversary deals. They’re rolling back the clock to 2012 prices, which means while throwing some darts you can enjoy a pint of tiger for the low price of RMB 25 or a burger for RMB 50!
