Beer Pong Makes a Splash in BJ Thanks to The Beerpong Spot
More and more events have been returning to the capital this year and we’re excited to announce another triumphant return: beer pong tournaments! Yes this famous frat party game is back on a regular basis thanks to two beer pong enthusiasts who have created a new beer pong dedicated group.
Hugo (France) and Kirill (Russia) recently decided to create The Beerpong Spot, a dedicated beer pong group putting on weekly beer pong tournaments around Beijing. They host three different beer pong tournaments a week with one on Mondays at Paddy O’Sheas, Thursdays at QS and Saturdays at Coded.

The events have been going on for about a month and have already proved to be a huge success, with their dedicated beer pong group chat already containing almost 500 members. Having dabbled in beer pong myself in the past, albeit not always that successfully (hand eye coordination is not my strong suit) I was intrigued to learn more and attended one of their events last Thursday to meet up with Hugo and Kirill and ask them some questions about their beer pong venture.
Q
Firstly, how did you get in to playing beer pong?
A
We used to play beer pong in Wudaokou and Sanlitun every week before the pandemic, many bars would have beer pong tables and tournaments back then.
Q
Why did you and Kirill decide to set up this group?
A
We decided to bring back beer pong to Beijing because we missed it and after talking with our friends we realized we weren’t the only ones.
The Beerpong Spot's events have already been drawing a big crowd
Q
Before creating this group had you put on any beer pong nights before?
A
Nope, we’ve never done anything similar before.
Q
You currently have three regular nights a week, do you have plans for adding any more?
A
So far our weekly schedule is pretty solid but of course we’re open to adding more, we get approached by venues quite often now.

Q
Do you have any plans for any special or one off future events besides the regular weekly ones?
A
Yes! We want to do special outdoor editions once the weather is better! Though we will have to watch out for the wind!
Beer pong aficionados may be wondering just which rules are played at The Beerpong Spot events. Well firstly, these tournaments involve teams of two so you’ll need to bring a long a partner or if you turn up solo Hugo or Kirill will find one for you. Secondly, to enter is completely free, you just need to sign up either through the group chat (more on that later) or turn up to the venue on time and ask to register.
Do you have the skills to win one of their beer pong tournaments?
Now, for those who aren’t great at downing drinks or aren’t big drinkers, there is good news because the version of beer pong played at these events doesn’t involve chugging the beers as you play. Instead, cups of water are used and are simply removed from play during the game.
However, for those who do enjoy a drink, or many drinks for that matter, there are special drinks deals at each venue that players can enjoy. At Paddy O’Sheas there is an extended happy hour until 11pm, at QS you can get a pitcher of draft beer for RMB 50 or a pitcher of beer and margherita pizza for RMB 88 and at Coded there are special deals on mixed drinks.
For specific rules during game play, you can check out The Beerpong Spot’s game rules in the poster below.
Are there prizes for winners I hear you ask? Yes each venue provides a range of different prizes for the winners and second and third place runners up.
