As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end, and that is soon to be the case for Unicat Attack, which is having its penultimate show on May 20. Created by Dann Gaymer, in collaboration with MusicDish*China and Daftpunk Sounds, Unicat Attack has become a staple in Beijing’s music scene since it was launched in Oct 2021.
With Gaymer set to move back to the UK in July, Unicat Attack, at least in its current form, has just two more shows left in the capital. However, in true Unicat style, it’ll be going out with a bang and both shows will be taking place in a BRAND NEW VENUE called The Factory.

Loooooongish Cat and Davecoin will be performing their debut album at the event

The latest brainchild of Zak Elmasri – of Fang Bar, El Nido, and Zhujingban fame – The Factory is a project space that contains four different venues within its two floors. Housed inside are Tunnel Café; a craft beer bar; Black Hole, a "cocktail and chill-out lounge"; and Steamed Bun Comics, Beijing’s first and only fully-fledged comic store.
This edition of Unicat Attack will be kicking off slightly earlier than normal, at 5pm, to give everyone a chance to explore the exciting new venue and sample some of its delicious offerings, such as craft beer and homemade Neapolitan-style pizza. Intrigued to know more? Well don’t worry, we have an exclusive on The Factory coming very soon, so make sure to keep an eye out for that!

There will be a limited number of Realizer albums available to buy on the night

Unicat Attack Vol.12 will be the first-ever event taking place at The Factory, and it also ties in with the release of Loooooongish Cat and Davecoin’s 12” record Realizer on Beijing/Detroit-based label Adeen Records. Realizer is the debut album from Looooooongish Cat and Davecoin, and they will be performing a live rendition of the “dark techno” album while also “bringing in a few twists and turns for good measure.” There will be a limited number of Realizer albums to buy on the night.

Lee Prescott's Unicat interpretation

Along with the Realizer album there will of course also be the customary Unicat Attack tape being released as well. The tape features remixes of the Realizer album by thruoutin (who mixed the album), Lastboss, Gaku, and Danish dub producer Roy Sinklair. The Unicat Attack Vol.12 tape artwork is by British artist Lee Prescott and shows a unicat against a Technicolor collage background that is also featured on the Realizer album.
Unicat Attack Vol.12 will culminate with Loooooongish Cat and Davecoin’s performance, but there will be plenty of entertainment before then, with live DJ sets from Beijing vinyl DJ and Adeen Records founder Jay 1,2; Peony Music founder Ivy Wong; and electronic producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist thruotin.

With a hot new venue, album release, tape release, live DJ sets, and more, Unicat Attack Vol. 12 looks set to be one jam-packed night of fun, so make sure you get your ticket now!

Unicat Attack Vol.12 will be taking place at 5pm, May 20, at The Factory. Presale tickets are RMB 80 and tickets on the door are RMB 100. You can scan the QR code in the poster above to purchase them.
