At 1pm today (Jun 5) the first wave of tickets for the much anticipated Argentina v Australia game at Gongti went on sale and a number of them have already sold out.

According to sports expert Mark Dreyer, the cheapest tickets (priced at RMB 580) sold out within a few minutes, these were then followed by the next cheapest (RMB 1380) which sold out after around ten minutes.

By around 1.30pm, tickets priced at RMB 2,800, RMB 3,200 and RMB 4,800 were also showing as sold out, with only tickets priced at RMB 3,800 showing as available. However, as of press time, all tickets are now showing as sold out.

All tickets are showing as sold out on the ticketing mini-program

If you’re desperate to get your hands on some tickets, don’t worry, because this was just the first wave of tickets being released, with another wave set to be released on Thursday, Jun 8 at 1pm. Given how quickly the cheapest ones sold out this time, you’ll have to act fast though because alternative means of getting tickets are technically not allowed.

It’s unclear just how many tickets were actually put on sale today and how many then remain to be released on Thursday. But, for those wanting to try their luck on Thursday, tickets will be available via the WeChat mini-program Piaoxingqiu 票星球, just scan the QR code below to access it:

When we talked to a Guo'an fan (who's also a Gongti enthusiast, considering it's Guo'an's home terf) last week, they were doubtful whether the match would sell out completely, due to the much higher ticket cost than usual. But, given how quickly this round of tickets sold, it looks like the capital’s football fans are more than willing to pay the high cost for the chance to see Messi in action.
