What’s Up With Sanlitun’s “Slow Traffic” System?
Following the closure of the last remnants of Sanlitun’s Dirty Bar Street last year, the subdistrict embarked on what’s been named the “Sanlitun Slow Traffic System” by local media.
This double pathway of sorts, which stretches from Gongti Nanlu in the south to Liangmahe Nanlu in the north, has seen a lot of progress over the past few months.
For starters, the entirety of bar street has been covered up by the giant green fences ubiquitous at Beijing construction sites, hiding the deconstruction going on within.

The sidewalk here has yet to be cleared out and expanded, but work on portions of sidewalk running along Taikooli North and Nali Patio up until 3.3 Mall has commenced as a continuation of expanding the lane’s bike path. As for the section of sidewalk across from 3.3 Mall, the massive sections of grass covering this area have been cleared, making for a much wider path.
Speaking of Nali Patio, its impending closure has already begun, with the car dealer occupying the street-level shops outside the complex having already cleared out.
No word yet on when things officially shutter and what’s to happen to Nali, but a source tells us that both Mosto and La Social have plans to stay open until August. Be sure to get to Nali Patio and visit all your favorite spots there before the curtain closes on this nightlife spot.
