Continuing on from the fun of their Drunk Debates back in March, Comedy Citadel and Date Night China have teamed up to bring a new comedy game show: Would I Lie To You?

If you’re not a Brit, chances are you’ve probably never heard of this show, well Would I Lie To You? is a popular British comedy game show that’s been airing in the UK since 2007 and has now been going for a whopping 16 series. But, what exactly does Would I Lie To You? entail and how does it work?

The show is hosted by comedian Rob Brydon and sees two teams of celebrity guests, led by British comedians David Mitchell and Lee Mack, compete against each other. Individuals from each team take turns reading out a humorous story or statement from a card in front of them that is either true or false. The other team then gets to ask the panelist questions to try and determine whether they’re telling the truth or lying.

What ensues is a lot of hilarious bluffing, misdirection, and joking around in order to try and trick the other team into choosing incorrectly. To make matters even funnier, the panelists have no idea what stories or statements they’ll be given until they read them out.

For the Comedy Citadel and Date Night China’s version, Nathan from Date Night China will be hosting and the two team captains will be Beijing comedians Donnie Fan and Kei Gambit. Other participants will be comedians Luke Zou and An, plus a mystery panelist from Date Night China.

This live show will also be adding a twist into the mix: audience participation! Along with the teams having to guess whether the panelist is lying or telling the truth, the audience will also get to weigh in with what they think. Plus each round an audience member will have the opportunity to ask the panelist a question as well.

You can expect plenty of embarrassing stories, outrageous lies, extraordinary truths, and plenty of fun – if the success of the last Drunk Debates is anything to go by, this is going to be one hilarious night you don’t want to miss!

Would I Lie To You is taking place at Li-Pi Records on Saturday, Jul 29 at 8pm. Early bird tickets are RMB 80 and standard tickets are RMB 100, you can purchase them by scanning the QR code in the poster above.
