作为当下实践的延伸思考，中外建筑师从不同角度发声，对“中国城市迈向韧性”的方式进行构想；而极具前卫思想的思辨力量，也分别在过去与当下，基于其时代背景，对未来城市提出了自己的构想——有趣的是，这些构想恰与当今的“韧性城市”理念相呼应，这似乎也从另一个层面佐证了在当下讨论“韧性城市”的意义。
As the extended thinking of current practice, reputable Chinese and foreign architects speak on different ways to construct “Chinese cities moving towards resilience”; the speculative and avant-garde power of the past and at present also propose their unique ideas for the future city based on the contemporary context. Interestingly, these conceptions echo the concept of “Resilient City” right now, which supports the meaning of current discussion on it as well.

艺术场馆及其建筑形态不断创新的同时，带来了哪些社会形态的更新?
What social forms have been updated with the continuous innovation of art museums and their architectural forms?

本期特辑首先讲述了中国美术馆的概况，以及中国在其公共性定义上的经验；其后从我国美术馆界当下热烈探讨的“艺术跨界、文化联盟”入手，分别邀请了成熟与新兴艺术场馆的设计者和从业者，同我们讲述他们的观念与立场，叠加在空间里的可持续运营策略，以及多元性的跨界与联盟。
我们通过近年建成的优秀项目，探讨了艺术与城市、社区生活、地产、文化旅游、科技等的碰撞，也透过艺术机构创始人、博物馆馆长、线上策展人以及艺术家四种不同的身份，分享了艺术视界新思潮。
This special issue begins with an overview of art museums in China, and China’s experience in defining the public meaning of art museums. And starting with the current topic of “Art Museum —Crossover & Collaboration”, we invited designers and professionals from well-established and emerging art museums to talk about their concepts, attitudes, sustainable operation strategies superimposed in the space, and the diversity of crossover and collaboration.
Through the excellent projects completed in recent years, we discuss the collisions between art and city, neighborhoods, real estate, cultural tourism, technology and so on. We also share new thoughts in art horizon through four identities of art institution, art museum curator, online exhibition curator and artist.

本期首先纵览了自改革开放以来，外国建筑师进入中国市场的历程，呈现了其中具有重大意义的代表性项目；而后，我们邀请了多家具有丰富国际经验的建筑设计机构，回顾各自不同的中国故事，阐述了在此过程中的困惑、挑战与惊喜；在实践板块中，我们试图通过不同地域、不同类型的建筑新作，展现外国建筑师的创新、选择与坚持，以及中外合作过程中存在的问题与挑战。
建筑无国界，而之于中国，如何在全球化大浪冲击下，让建筑、城市的样貌不千篇一律、不背离中华文化的根源、不脱离中国城市的语境，是值得大家共同探讨的议题。
In this issue, we firstly take a look at the history of foreign architects entering the Chinese market since the reform and opening up, presenting representative projects of great significance. In the practice section, we try to show the innovation, choice and persistence of foreign architects, as well as the problems and challenges in the process of Chinese-foreign cooperation through new works from different regions and types of architecture.
Architecture knows no borders, but in China, it is worthwhile to discuss how to make architecture and cities not look the same, not deviate from the roots of Chinese culture, and not be detached from the context of Chinese cities under the impact of globalization.

记录中国建筑师，传播优秀中国建筑，彰显中国建设行业力量。
Record Chinese architects, promote outstanding Chinese architecture, highlight the strength of Chinese architecture industry.

第四、五期合刊“中国当代杰出中青年建筑师”专辑，旨在记录、传播和彰显近40年来中国涌现出来的杰出中青年建筑师，同时作为2021年11月将在上海举办的第十九届亚洲建筑师大会中方的推荐资料，此项工作得到了中国建筑学会的大力支持。
本刊推荐的100多位当代杰出中青年建筑师，包括已当选为中国科学院院士、中国工程院院士和全国工程勘察设计大师以及获得过中国建筑学会青年建筑师奖荣誉的部分获奖者。同时考虑了不同地区设计机构、大专院校和大型国企以及不同体制平台的杰出中青年建筑师。
The especially combined fourth and fifth issues of Architectural Practice entitled “Outstanding Young & Middle-aged Architects in Contemporary China ” is intended to record, release and eulogize the outstanding young and middle-aged architects elected in China in recent four decades. As the information to be provided by China to the 19th Asian Congress of Architects to be held in Shanghai in November 2021, this special issue of Architectural Practice has been strongly supported by The Architectural Society of China.
The list of more than 100 outstanding young and middle-aged architects released by this issue includes the architects who have been elected as academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, national design master architects in engineering survey and some winners who have won the Young Architects Award granted by the Architectural Society of China, as well as the outstanding young and middle-aged architects from regional design institutions, colleges and universities, large state-owned enterprises and other organizations.

Urban Features
城市和建筑风貌，关乎我们如何通过建成环境关联历史、反映当下、想象未来，是一个永恒的、动态的话题。
Urban and architectural features is an eternal and dynamic topic, which is closely related to how to make connections with history, to reflect the present and to imagine the future through a constructed environment.

本专辑在分享行业专家几次会议发言内容的基础上，试图通过实践案例，从“城市片区的整体风貌塑造”和“对城市重点地段风貌有重大影响的建筑单体”两个角度展现一批塑造积极城市和建筑风貌的项目。
这些项目中有历经不断完善，不断迭代使用业态的经典作品，也有刚刚完成的新作，尝试呈现出当下中国城市一种基于体验、更为丰富的风貌特征。
In addition to sharing several speeches of experts and specialists at the symposiums mentioned above, this collection is intended to demonstrate a series of projects of shaping proactive cities and architectural outlook through practical cases from 2 aspects including “the overall shaping of urban features in a certain district” and “individual architectures which leave a major impact on the features of key urban areas”.
These projects include not only classic works that have undergone continuous improvement with the iterative use of formats, but also new ones that have just been completed, trying to present more diverse characteristics based on experience in the current cities of China.

面向未来的大型赛事场馆应如何发展？
How should the future-oriented large stadiums develop?

本期特辑将围绕“2022北京冬奥会”“2022杭州亚运会”“2021陕西全运会”三大赛事展开，通过对不同地区、不同功能、不同类型的大型赛事场馆的规划和设计阐述，呈现各具特色的城市运动盛会，展现设计师们对大型场馆可持续发展的积极思考。
与此同时，越来越多的体育业态开始走进生活社区、公园、商场，形成多样化的体育新场景，充分融入人们的日常生活中。我们希冀看到更多经济、实用、美观的体育设施遍布于城市的各个角落，让全民健身更亲民、更便利。
This feature will focus on the three major events, “Beijing 2022”, “Hangzhou 2022” and “Shaanxi 2021”, showing different characteristics and reflecting positive thinking of designers on the sustainable development through the planning and design of large-scale sports venues of different regions, different functions, and different types.
Meanwhile, more and more sports industry has appeared in the living community, parks, shopping malls, forming a variety of new sports scenes, and fully integrated into our daily life. It is our hope that we could see more economical, practical, and artistic sports facilities in every corner of the city to make national fitness more people-friendly and convenient.

With a long history and profound culture as well as unique charm of the regions south of the Yangtze River, Jiaxing is known for the Red Boat on the Nanhu Lake, the place where the Communist Party of China has led China’s century long struggle. Adhering to the “Red Boat Spirit” of daring to be the first and pioneering, Jiaxing puts forward new management ideas of urban construction, and take the lead in the innovative exploration of the city chief planner system.
A modern spatial planning and governance mode with Chinese characteristics is explored and constructed in Jiaxing today, so as to inherit the culture of the regions south of the Yangtze River, continue the urban context, promote the sustainable development of the city and realize the revival of urban culture. As a paradigm of refined and high-quality planning and construction in the new era, Jiaxing will set an exemplary for the development of prefecture level cities nationwide and showcase the city image with Chinese characteristics to the world.

本期特辑解读了当下我国城市更新的新趋势及其发展现状，基于城市更新项目的三个具体设计要求，即“设施升级”“功能置换”“界面重塑”，通过对近期不同规模、类型项目的报道，呈现并探讨了当城市发展及社会生活需求不断发生变化时，城市更新实践者们所给出的应对策略。
This issue tries to interpret the new trend and development status of urban renewal in China at present. On the basis of the 3 specific design requirements of urban renewal projects, namely, facility upgrade, functional reallocation, and interface reshaping, through reporting projects of different scales and types in recent years, it presents and discusses the coping strategies given by urban renewal practitioners when urban development and social life demand are constantly changing.
