当今世界正在与新冠病毒肺炎大流行作斗争——这是我们自第二次世界大战以来遇到的最严峻危机——我们还遭遇另一场流行病，即危险的错误信息流行病。
As the world fights the deadly COVID-19 pandemic – the most challenging crisis we have faced since the Second World War – we are also seeing another epidemic, a dangerous epidemic of misinformation.
世界各地人民感到恐惧。人民想知道该做什么，该向哪里寻求建议。
Around the world, people are scared. They want to know what to do and where to turn for advice.
这是一个讲科学、求团结的时刻。然而，全球范围内的“错误信息传播”愈演愈烈，有害的健康建议和各种偏方比比皆是。
This is a time for science and solidarity. Yet the global ‘misinfo-demic’ is spreading. Harmful health advice and snake-oil solutions are proliferating.
谣言充斥着电视广播媒体。疯狂的阴谋论在互联网上蔓延。仇恨成为一种病毒，对个人和群体极尽污蔑和诋毁。
Falsehoods are filling the airwaves. Wild conspiracy theories are infecting the Internet. Hatred is going viral, stigmatizing and vilifying people and groups.
全世界必须团结一致，共同抗御这个另类疾病。免疫办法就是信任。
The world must unite against this disease, too. The vaccine is trust.
一是相信科学。我向那些对堆积如山的误导、杜撰和社交媒体帖子查证真相的记者和的其他人致敬。社交媒体公司必须采取更多措施根除涉及新冠病毒的仇恨和有害言论。
First, trust in science. I salute the journalists and others fact-checking the mountain of misleading stories and social media posts. Social media companies must do more to root out hate and harmful assertions about COVID-19.
二是信任体制——以反应灵敏、负责和有证可循的治理和领导力为依托。彼此信任，相互尊重和维护人权一定是我们驾驭这场危机的定海神针。
Second, trust in institutions — grounded in responsive, responsible, evidence-based governance and leadership. And trust in each other. Mutual respect and upholding human rights must be our compass in navigating this crisis.
让我们携手同行，拒绝漫天谎言和无稽之谈。
Together, let’s reject the lies and nonsense out there.
今天，我宣布一项新的联合国信息传播应对举措，倡议向互联网传递大量事实和科学知识，同时打击日益严重的错误信息祸害——错误信息是一剂毒药，会使更多人的生命陷入危险境地。
Today, I am announcing a new United Nations communications response initiative to flood the internet with facts and science while countering the growing scourge of misinformation, a poison that is putting even more lives at risk.
我们以明通理、讲事实为共同事业，定能击败新冠病毒肺炎，建立一个更健康、更公平、更公正和更坚韧的世界。谢谢！
