王克平(1949年出生于北京)作为艺术团体 "星星 "的创立成员之一，参与了中国首个当代艺术运动“星星美展”而为人所熟知。
他于1984年移居法国，开始发展一种非常个人化的雕塑语言——将他非常重视的手工技巧、对中国传统的精通以及高度现代的表现力相结合。他重新认识到了木这一材质的精髓，不再仅遵循于自然形态给予他的启迪。
Born in Beijing in 1949, Wang Keping is one of the key figures of “Xing Xing", the most historic art movement in the history of contemporary China.
He moved to France in 1984 and went on to develop a very personal sculptural language combining the manual dexterity he values so highly, mastery of Chinese tradition, and a highly contemporary expressiveness. He discovered different wood species and allowed himself to be guided and inspired by the natural forms of the material.

王克平的作品曾在世界各地重要艺术机构展出，包括：巴黎蓬皮杜艺术中心、 伯尔尼美术馆、纽约布鲁克林博物馆、北京中国美术馆和深圳何香凝美术馆。他的雕塑被不少重要艺术机构收购如巴黎Muncipal当代艺术基金、巴黎Cernuischi博物馆、香港M+博物馆和牛津大学Ashmolean博物馆。
His work has been exhibited widely around the world, including at the Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Kunstmuseum Bern, Bern; Brooklyn Museum, New York; National Art Museum of China, Beijing; and the Hexiangning Art Museum, Shenzhen. His sculptures have been acquired by important art institutions, such as the Fonds Muncipal d'Art Contemporain, Paris; Musée Cernuischi, Paris; M+ museum, Hong Kong; and the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
关于星星画会
“星星画会”是上世纪7０年代末出现在北京的一个艺术团体，以追求自由和自我表现的艺术、主张具有现代主义风格的实验性作品，以及具有特殊历史意义的活动与事件而著称。在1979年和1980年分别举办了两画展，在当时就激起了巨大的社会反响，由此开辟了中国当代艺术的道路。
'The Stars (Xingxing)' is an art group that started in Beijing at the end of the 1970s. It is famous for pursuing free and self-expressive art, advocating experimental works with modern style, and activities and events with extraordinary historical significance. Two exhibitions were held in 1979 and 1980 respectively, which aroused great social repercussions at that time, marking the beginning of Chinese contemporary art.
