The words "Anima" and "Animal" have two distinct meanings, despite the fact that they share a common Latin etymological root. "Anima" alludes to the soul or the breath of life, often evoked in philosophical circles to describe the vital principle of animating beings, whether humans or animals. It is also commonly used to describe the inner essence or profound individuality of a being, while the term "Animal" describes a living and mobile being.

丹尼尔·达维欧（1962年出生于法国萨拉）是一位法国雕塑家。他从小就对大自然和动物充满热情，对表现濒危、稀有或奇特物种都产生了浓厚的兴趣，突出它们的美丽而独特个性。他令人瞩目的作品以青铜为媒介，以别具一格的感受力和准确性探索动物的形态和动作。他的作品有着凝练优雅的线条和精湛的技术。
多年来，他的作品屡获殊荣，包括 2000 年的桑多斯奖（Sandoz prize）、2013 年的法国国家美术协会雕塑金奖（Gold medal for sculpture），以及最近于 2022 年获得的安德烈-格拉埃克奖（Andreï GRAEC prize），证明了他在艺术界的知名度。他的作品现已被世界各地的知名公共和私人收藏，如中国德基博物馆和瑞士 ED.M Sandoz 基金会，展示了他日益增长的国际影响力。

Daniel Daviau (b.1962, Sarlat, France) is a French sculptor. Passionate about nature and animals since his childhood, he has developed a particular interest not only in the representation of endangered species but also in rare or unusual animals, highlighting their beauty and distinctive character. His notable artistic work has focused primarily on bronze sculpture, exploring the shapes and movements of animals with unique precision and sensitivity. His style is characterised by clean lines and remarkable technical mastery.
Over the years, his work has been rewarded with numerous prestigious prizes, including the Sandoz prize in 2000, the gold medal for sculpture from the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts in 2013 and even recently the Andreï GRAEC prize in 2022, testifying to his recognition in the art world. His works are now present in renowned public and private collections around the world, such as the Deji Museum, China, and the ED.M Sandoz Foundation, Switzerland, showcasing his growing international influence.
Since 2001, Daviau has served as vice-president of the Salon national des artistes animaliers, strengthening his commitment to the artistic community. His work has been exhibited in renowned museums and projects such as Bilbao Biskaia Kutxa Fondation de Bilbao, French May, Statue Square, Hong Kong, Place du Louvre, Paris, Musée des Années 30, Boulogne-Billancourt, and Hôtel de la Monnaie of Paris.
More than 250 of Daviau's sculptures have been included in public and private collections in Europe, America, the Middle East, and Asia. Since 2011, the artist has been working on monumental sculptures for worldwide cultural foundations and public spaces. Daniel Daviau is exclusively represented by DUMONTEIL.
