Shanghai Disney Puts Final Touches on Metro Station
By Cathy Wu
As the highly anticipated grand opening of Shanghai Disney Resort quickly approaches, our favorite theme park is working hard to complete its last finishing touches before June 16. And after photos of Shanghai Disney Resort's suspicious new menu were released last week, they might just have their work cut out for them. The latest news on the Disney front tells us that Shanghai Disney Resort Station of Line 11 successfully began trial runs yesterday morning.
It has been reported that after construction is complete, it will take only 40 minutes to get from Xujiahui station to Shanghai Disney Resort. The park itself will be a 10 minute walk from the station. The station has an exceptionally large floor space of 40,000 square meters, and will be equipped to handle the large quantities of people expected to visit the park, according to Xinhua. Officials warned that security will be strictly enforced. Wouldn't want anything strange turning up at the happiest place on earth!
The Disney Resort extension of Line 11 (from Luoshan Station to Disney Station) brings Line 11 to a whopping length of 80.6 kilometers, making it the longest metro line in Shanghai. The first train will leave Disney Station at 6am, the latest at 10.30pm, although the timetable is subject to change after the resort’s opening.
However, don't expect to bust out the mouse ears anytime before June 16. The resort is not ready to welcome tourists yet, as some areas are still under construction.
For visitors who fly into Shanghai, Pudong and Hongqiao airports are going to launch special direct shuttle bus services from the airport to the Disney Resort. Essentially, you can step off the plane right into Mickey's welcoming embrace.
