Sep 13-17: Unico Shanghai’s 4th Anniversary
The multi-time That’s Shanghai Food and Drink Award continues its fourth year anniversary with the acclaimed Barrio Latino band rocks the house for an authentic bachata night that kicks off the Shanghai Latin Festival on September 13. The king of Latin soul, Joe Bataan, plays his first show in China on September 16 showcasing his distinct mix of Latin boogaloo and American doo-wop. The following night, the anniversary parties close with a truly wild experience at the Amazoonia themed party.

Sep 16: DJ Snake
Best known for his Lil Jon hit collaboration ‘Turn Down For What,’ the Parisian beat-maker is proving he’s no one-hit wonder. Released last month, his debut disc Encore has already topped the Billboard Dance Chart thanks to singles like the Bieber featuring ‘Let Me Love You.’

Sep 16-17: Concrete + Grass Festival

Formerly known as Echo Park, the Split Works-organized music festival brings the same family-friendly activities and vibes, with an impressive bill headlined by Edison Chen and Sekai no Owari while featuring stalwarts in rap (A$AP Ferg [pictured above], DJ Premier), indie-rock (Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, Health, The Cribs) and standout acts from China (Chui Wan, Zuriaake, Chinese Football).

There is no road too rough to conquer for arguably China’s most famous band. Already they’ve inspired a Mongolian fusion scene, performed at the world’s most prestigious stages like New York’s Lincoln Center and even vanquished Chinese reality TV, winning the second season of CCTV’s hit show, Sing My Song. Rather than rest on their laurels, the group linked with acclaimed producers Garth Richardson (Rage Against the Machine) and Bob Ezrin (Pink Floyd’s The Wall) to add some seriously rocking psychedelic touches to their already boisterous sound on their standout new disc, Horse of Colors.

Sep 18: Carsick Cars

Celebrating 10 years in the game, the ground breaking Beijing rock trio has toured Europe with Sonic Youth while helping establish the foundation of venerated Beijing indie label,Maybe Mars. Expect MAO Livehouse to be rocking to classics like ‘Rock and Roll Hero,’ ‘You Can Listen, You Can Talk’ and especially ‘Zhong Nan Hai,’ in which the band was pelted with the titular cigarette during their wild 2014 show at Yuyintang. Dream Can and Dirty Fingers open.
