Smoking Now Banned at Shanghai Airports

Starting this Sunday, Shanghai’s two airports are banning smoking rooms inside the terminal buildings.

To compensate for the closed smoking rooms, the Hongqiao and Pudong airports have set up outdoor smoking areas that airport authorities will guide people looking to take a smoke break to.

Due to Shanghai’s new smoking control regulations, there is predicted to be action taken against indoor smoking by the end of the year. The city’s legislative body is planning to enforce harsher regulations against smoking at indoor public places such as hotels and public transportation. But still as of June last year, Beijing remains the strictest with their smoking laws in China.

In other not-so-great-news for the airports themself, they've once again been punished for poor punctuality performance.

Two months ago we reported that Shanghai's airports would not be able to operate new or extra flights due to poor punctuality ratings.

Well, it seems that they once again haven't met the criteria and were hit with another two month ban. No surprises there.
