1. Beyond Rubik’s Cube
Created by the Liberty Science Museum, Google and the cube’s Hungarian inventor, Ernõ Rubik, this exhibition celebrates the world’s most popular puzzle. During its world tour, Beyond Rubik’s Cube has delighted guests with interactive physical and digital challenges. Other highlights include a giant Rubik’s Cube the size of a car, early prototypes of the cube (see cover image) and the world’s most expensive toy, a jewel-encrusted Rubik’s Cube.

2. Austin Lee: Light Paintings
Formerly located in a historic gem on the dark side of the Bund, BANK toasts its new home on Anfu Lu with this solo exhibition from the New York based artist known for mixing digital techniques and a sense of humor for colorful works.

3. Envision
For the past decade, AroundSpace has celebrated emerging and established contemporary artists in China. For this group exhibition, they’ve invited 12 artists ranging from the experienced to the recently graduated to present their vision of traditional Chinese culture’s place in contemporary art. Participants include Ji Dachun, Dong Wensheng, Huang Yuanqing, Ding Beili, Dou Rongjun (pictured above), Tang Shu, Shao Zejiong, He Daqiao, Fu Xiaotong, Ju Ting, Zhuang Ying and Qiu Jia.

4. Félix González-Torres
Rockbund Art Museum celebrates the gigantic legacy of the Cuban-born, American artist who passed away 20 years ago in Miami from AIDS. A member of the collaborative New York-based collective Group Material, González-Torres was one of the first artists to convey reflections on living with the disease. Often referred to as a process artist, his minimal installations and sculptures incorporate materials like lightbulbs (see cover image), clocks and stacks of paper. Most of his works are titled “Untitled” due to his style as a process artist inviting viewers to interact with his works.

5. Zhang Ruyi: Building Opposite Building
Winner of numerous art prizes like the Creative M50 Young Artist Award, 2012, Zhang Ruyi has become a Don Gallery favorite since participating in a 2014 group show (see above). In her second solo exhibition, she uses buildings as the recurring motif for her works that span from site-specific installations to paintings. In Building Opposite Building, she explores the relationship between the individual, daily realities and physical spaces.

6. Ye Hongxing: The Accumulation of Silence
In The Accumulation of Silence, Ye Hongxiang presents her latest series of white marble sculptures that are modeled after an iconic bottle of perfume or alcohol. She will also present a new series of sticker paintings that showcase her use of symmetry and parrallelism while incorporating currency presented as mantras and prayers for subtly subversive works.
