China's 'Mad Max' Ripoff 'Mad Shelia' Starts Streaming
By Bridget O'Donnell
We've heard of Chinese knockoffs, but this is just ridiculous.
Mad Shelia (Chinese: 疯狂希莉娅), a film that will stream on Tencent Video starting from tomorrow, looks a lot like a low-budget version of the Mad Max blockbuster franchise.
Even the poster looks suspiciously familiar:
China Film Insider reports that the movie was produced by Beijing-based studio New Film Media and shot in Inner Mongolia.
And if you just can't get enough of the unoriginally original film, don't worry — there are at least two Mad Shelia sequels on the way. No word yet on whether Mad Shelia – Virgin Road and Mad Shelia – Vengeance Road have any similarities to Mad Max: Fury Road or Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior.
