Chinese Cam Girl Jailed for Livestreaming Sex
By Rachel Deason
It turns out the authorities have a different definition of “slammer” for one camgirl who engaged in a livestreamed foursome last February.
21-year-old Sherry Gun was recently sentenced to four years in prison for the lewd act, titled ‘Foursome in Chengdu,’ which she livestreamed in hopes of gaining internet fame.
The standard term is fewer than three years, but Lin’s act was deemed a ‘serious case.’ Lin was arrested in her home in May along with two of her three accomplices and fined RMB100,000.
With over 200 live streaming websites, being an internet host (people—mostly young women—who film their daily activities through a webcam in front of a live audience) is more competitive than ever for women who want to make a quick buck.
Most hosts stick to singing and dancing, but some have found the real money to be in far less innocent material. In fact, to get around Chinese Criminal Law, a few hosts turned to seductive banana eating, but even that was clamped down on by the authorities.
Lin’s video was only two minutes long but gained immense popularity, with ‘Foursome in Chengdu’ briefly becoming a top term on Chinese search engines. With such a harsh punishment, let’s hope the two minutes were the best of the young woman's life.
