Huawei Phone Blocks Bullet, Saving Chilean Man's Life
By Bridget O'Donnell
Next time you make fun of Huawei phones, just know that they could end up saving your life.
That's exactly what happened in Chile this week, after a Huawei Honor 5X prevented a bullet from killing a man during a robbery.
According to reports, the robbery took place in Santiago. The man, who was accompanied by at least one family member, had just withdrawn three million pesos (USD178,500) from his uncle's pension account when a trio of robbers began following them.
The robbers approached them while they were drinking coffee. During a scuffle, the man was shot in the stomach while trying to resist. But his Honor 5X, which happened to be in the right place at the right time, blocked the bullet.
The man survived with minor injuries, though it's unclear what happened to his relative. Meanwhile, two of the robbers were arrested, though one unfortunately is still on the run with the money.
This isn't the first time a Huawei device has acted as a bullet-proof shield.
Last year, a man in South Africa survived being shot in the chest twice from close range after his Huawei P8 Lite blocked the bullets.
And in 2015, a Guatamalen man said his P7 helped him survive a gunfight.
But wait, there's more. An employee of Huawei's sub-Saharan Africa office claimed a MediaPad P7 Lite saved a researcher's life as he was shot while conducting field work in Kenya.
We're sensing a theme here...
