Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is Coming to Shanghai
By Bridget O'Donnell
It's official: the 2017 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will be held in China for the first time ever!
The show will take place in Shanghai in November, though the exact location of the "Pink Carpet" is not yet confirmed. It will be broadcast in more than 190 countries, with US channel CBS playing the show live on November 28 at 10pm Eastern Standard Time.
The announcement follows the opening of the brand's first flagship store in Shanghai earlier this year. A second location in Chengdu soon followed.
As many as 50 models are expected to arrive for the lingerie show. Angels already confirmed include Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Lily Aldridge, Josephine Skriver, Behati Prinsloo, sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid, Jasmine Tookes, Candice Swanepoel, Stella Maxwell, Elsa Hosk, Lais Ribeiro, Romee Strijd, Sara Sampaio, Martha Hunt and Taylor Hill. Plenty of other new faces will also be hitting the runway for the first time at the show.
Gigi announced that she had been cast in the annual runway show on Instagram, writing: "Forever and ever and ever a dream come true to be asked back to the VS Show!!!"
It hasn't been announced which model will don the million dollar "Fantasy Bra," though previous wearers have included Lima, Ambrosio, Gisele Bundchen, Heidi Klum, Miranda Kerr and Tyra Banks. The 2017 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show will also feature model profiles, a behind-the-scenes look at the show and musical performances, according to a press release.
Though this year's musical performances haven't been announced yet, past years have featured Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd and Taylor Swift.
Paris hosted last year's show, and the typically star-studded event has previously been held in London, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and Paris.
The lingerie brand is making a big push to China, having first expanded to the area in 2015. The company just recently opened two beauty and accessory stores in Beijing (with a flagship store reportedly coming soon), and a record number of Chinese models appeared on the catwalk at the 2016 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.

This won't be the first trip to China for some of the models, who visited Shanghai in March to celebrate the grand opening of the Shanghai flagship store. Ambrosio, Josephine Skriver, Ming Xi and Sui He posed for photos at some of the city's most iconic spots, including The Bund, the Huangpu River and Yu Garden.
Previous shows have been attended by high-profile guests, so we can probably expect to see plenty of big name celebs descend upon Shanghai in November.
