This month, Jing'an's Réel Mall has unveiled a newly-revamped food court, and it's packed to the rafters with mini versions of Shanghai's laowai-friendly restaurants.
There are poke bowls from Hooked, vegan and veggie from Pure & Whole, pizza from D.O.C Express, rotisserie from Dodu, Sunflour Bakery, LA Pho, Mex & Co., Awfully Chocolate and Al's Burgers (below, a burger centric version of Al's Diner).
The busiest vendor so far looks to be a local entrant called Da Fu Dong. They make rice bowls topped with various BBQ'd meats like marinated bulgogi, steak, chicken thigh or pork. It's all flame-grilled in front of you and served with an onsen egg and beef broth for around RMB68, sort of like Korean BBQ condensed into a bowl.
We braved the 25-person strong line at 11am and can tell you it's pretty legit. This chain is one to watch.
