PHOTOS: French President Emmanuel Macron Visits China

French President Emmanuel Macron kicked off a three-day visit to China with a tour of the famous Terracotta Warriors along with wife Brigitte Macron on Monday.

The couple was greeted at Xi'an Airport on their first day in China.

Following their time in the ancient capital of Xi'an, the President and First Lady headed to Beijing to explore the Forbidden City and meet with Chinese leaders. 

President Macron was invited by President Xi Jinping, marking the first visit from a foreign head of state in 2018. It was Macron’s first state visit to the country, as well as the first visit from an EU leader since last October's Party Congress.

"The EU is currently facing new development, and France stands ready to promote EU-China cooperation," Macron said during a meeting with Xi at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing yesterday.

The state visit concluded today.
