PHOTOS: It's Smog Season in Shanghai, and It's Gross Outside
By Justine Lopez
You don't need us to tell you that smog season in Shanghai is well underway. Just look outside! But for those of you who haven't left the house (or looked out the window) today things do look a little grim. On Wednesday, AQI levels around the city lingered around the 200 mark, according to AirVisual. And it looks like that number will spike this evening.
As always, the poor air quality means images of our apocalyptic-looking city are filling up our social media feeds.

Unfortunately, heavy air pollution is expected to linger in the city for the next few days. Expect the AQI to be between 150 and 200 through the weekend.
According to AirVisual, the AQI is currently hovering around the 200 mark but is expected to reach "very unhealthy" levels – between 200 and 300 – on Wednesday night.

In addition to the smog, heavy fog will settle over the city, most likely during the morning hours, until Thursday. A yellow alert was issued for heavy fog on Tuesday. A handful of flights were canceled at Shanghai's airports on Tuesday due to poor visibility, China Daily reports. So you might want to check your flight's status before you head to the airport tomorrow.
