Man Slaps Ex-Teacher in the Face for Bullying Him in School
By Jonathan Zhong
What do you do if you bump into your least favorite teacher on the street? One thing we don’t recommend doing is slapping them in the face like one not-so-young man in Henan province.
On December 16, a video titled ‘after graduation, I repaid my teacher with a slap in the face’ became the talk of the Internet. In the video, a 32-year-old man surnamed Chang stops another man as he is riding a scooter. Chang recognizes the man on the scooter as his former teacher Zhang, and begins hitting him in the face.
While beating his 50-year-old teacher, Chang can also be heard shouting, “do you still remember me? Remember how you treated me.” The teacher, however, does not fight back in the footage and apologizes to Chang in a low voice.

Though the video wasn’t made public until this month, the incident took place in late July of this year. Chang, who is from Luanchuan county in Henan, was a student of Zhang’s 20 years ago when he was 13 and claimed that he had been bullied by the teacher during his time in school.
According to CCTV, Chang posted an article online after the video went viral, clarifying that he indeed decided to attack his teacher because Zhang had bullied him many times in school, by stepping on his head and kicking it, adding that the teacher treated him like that simply because he “was from a family without a lot of money and power.”
Meanwhile, on December 16, Luanchuan Experimental Middle School, at which Zhang works, sent a document detailing Chang’s violent acts to the local public security bureau.
Unfortunately, the three-page document made no mention of any acts of bullying by Zhang, but said that Chang “misunderstood the teacher’s criticism and was holding grudges against him” while condemning him for resorting to violence and “severely hurting Zhang both physically and mentally.”
According to Luanchuan Public Security Bureau, Chang was arrested in Hangzhou on December 20 and is being investigated at the moment.
Netizens are split on Chang’s actions, with one Weibo user writing, “that’s what we call comeuppance, the teacher surely deserves it,” while another said, “nice job catching him! Whatever the reason, you cannot break the law.”
