Changning firms offer best online services
The Top 100 domestic Internet plus Life Service enterprises unveiled at the recent Internet plus New Business Summit feature seven Changning-based firms — the travel booking site Ctrip.com, the restaurant-review and group-buying site Dianping.com, Spring Airlines, third-party payment service China UMS, online ticketing firm Gewara, fresh produce e-commerce platform Yiguo.com and household management startup 24tidy.
Seven Changning-based firms are included in the Top 100 domestic Internet plus Life Service enterprises.
The seven companies’ success epitomizes Changning’s spearheading industry transformation which is closely integrated with the latest information technology since the district established the first pilot zone nationwide for the Internet plus Life Service industry last year.
The future development of the seven companies is part of Changning’s ambition to foster 20 international brands and 100 elite service companies by 2018.
Among the seven, NASDAQ-listed Ctrip — a leading online travel service provider in China and Asia — is going global. It acquired the biggest air ticket distributer in Europe, Skyscanner, last year as a major step in branding and customer development.
Meanwhile, Dianping is expanding its business domestically and abroad. As China’s biggest group deals site the company is constantly committed to improving customer experience and therefore leads the future trend of consumption both online and offline.
Apart from the seven starring on the list, a number of other companies with their “Internet plus” businesses in Changning also made rapid progress which include smart parking data firm ETCP, interior design platform Jia.com, O2O automobile e-commerce website Chexiang.com and home improvement and furnishing shopping network Red Star Macalline.

District agency starts issuing expat work permits
Ten foreigners have received a Foreigner Work Permit issued by the Changning Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs since the administration was given the green light to do so in May.

The Changning administration is also authorized for subsequent monitoring. As the first of its kind at district level, the administrative agency launched a one-counter service for foreigners who apply for work permits in the district.
The Shanghai Hongqiao One-Stop Service Center of Overseas Talents at 999 Jinzhong Road started accepting applications from December.
Changing is home to nearly 70,000 expats, accounting for 10 percent of the total population and therefore turning the district into an international community of excellence.
Changning was among the first in Shanghai, as well as the country, to pilot the new unified work permit system for foreigners.
The previous Foreign Experts Certificate (R-visa) and Alien Employment Permit (Z-visa) have been integrated into the new permit system for foreigners in China.
A total of 770 Changning-based employers have registered at the center, which has received 1,705 applications online and 587 applications at the counter since the launch of the service. Nearly 1,000 applicants have finished the process while 136 of them received their work permit (126 with the permit issued by Shanghai Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs).

Quick option for Hongqiao airport drivers
Intelligent parking has come to Hongqiao International Airport. Drivers can pay a parking fee without even having to brake.
The P6 and P7 parking garages at the airport’s T2 building opened the service with a trial operation last Tuesday to reduce congestion at entrances to the garages and make parking more convenient for drivers.
Drivers need to register their car plate number with an Alipay account so that charges can be deducted automatically when they drive out.
With the intelligent parking service, a car can leave the garage within two seconds, compared with 10 seconds if using the manned booths to pay.
A car plate recognition system has been installed at the garages and it will send arrival and departure times of the drivers to the Alipay account.
An electronic receipt will then be sent to drivers through their mobile phones.
The service will be introduced to more parking areas at both terminal buildings of Hongqiao airport by the end of the month.
With the new service, a car can leave the garage within two seconds, compared with 10 seconds if using the manned booths to pay.
The airport authority began renovating the parking garages last year. About 10 percent of drivers to the airport have begun using the new paying service during the two-week trial operation.
