Adventure, strong winds, sunny days and pleasant travels by scooter. Before we even had a chance to utter the word Qingming, the month of April came knocking on our door urging on us to come out and play.
And so we will. Having prepared a great set up of events with everything from live-music shows to daytime hutong markets, artsy Tuesday nights and dance evenings, Modernista in April comes with great opportunities for thrilling new music experiences and late night fiestas.

April waits for no one, saddle up and get ready for wild weekend parties filled with everything from gypsy tunes to disco and funk, R'n'B classics to eclectic jazz. We start of this month by celebrating the Qingming festival with a long weekend of events.
TOURING ARTISTS

If you are the kind who's always looking for something new, you'll be happy to see this month we are welcoming two special guests from Europe to take over the stage of Modernista.
We know you surely will enjoy the joyful melodies and outstanding performance of HOTEL BALKAN on FRI 12TH, as they will make us dance all night long to their tango inspired, swinging gypsy rocking Balkan beats.
This is going to be a party like we haven't witnessed in quite a while!
本月有两个在中国巡演的演出单位到访Modernista：
12号的周五，来自维也纳最欢快的声音，Balkan Hotel（我们简称巴尔干乐队）将首次空降Modernista大舞台，一场探戈与摇摆舞的狂欢势所难免！
And if it is Jazz you are craving for, don't miss out on Dutch guitarist DAAN KLEIJN JAZZ TRIO on SUN 21ST. After having made himself a name on the Jazz scene of New York, we are now happy to welcome him to Beijing for a very special, intimate show.
另一个到访的嘉宾将于21号的周日爵士之夜亮相，在纽约爵士界赫赫有名，来自荷兰的爵士吉他手Daan Kleijn将带同他的三重奏，为北京的爵士乐迷献技，幸福！

But not everything good comes from afar, and as we reach mid month, we showcase some of Beijing's funkiest party bands, first on SAT 13TH with THE HUNTERS' farewell show to keyboardist James, one of the musicians who first set his feet on Modernista's stage back in 2012, and later on FRI 19TH with the explosive THE REBEL 5 debuting their new flamboyant singer.
北京音乐界人才济济，音乐好手来来去去，13号周六，成立多年的亨特斯摇滚乐队将会为键琴手詹姆斯举行告别演出，而在19号，爆炸性的Rebel 5乐队则迎来他们的新主唱，充满期待！
Moreover, if you are more on the oldies side, rejoice on SAT 27TH as we bring back nine piece band THE FLIP SIDE to inspire the disco dancer within you with their sweet 70s & 80s music set. Also, on FRI 26TH the always energetic GREAT BUFFALO BLUES will be rocking timeless old black rock & roll songs, joined by the sourthern happy sounds of amateur band LE RAFIOT.
在27号的周六，复古迪斯科乐队The Flip Side将带来一场周末狂热，重回欧美七八十年代！而26号的周五就有大水牛布鲁斯乐队与法国乐队Le Rafiot。
SUGAR HOUSE
Where you there for that first R'n'B only, songs-to-make-love-to party we had back in mid Feb? It was a gooooood one, so SUGAR HOUSE are back for a second edition of their signature old school black jam.
On SAT 20TH, they present YAASS QUEEN, a homenage to all those bad ass woman of soul who show they can shake it like a queen. Expect the best power R'n'B dancing cuts from the beautiful sex and, as usual, a lot of beautiful... well, sex.
20号周六的这个晚上，我们属于R&B！Sugar House的Dj们，将带来一场性感，神秘而狂野的黑人音乐趴地！会玩的同学们你懂的！
CHILL THURSDAYS
周四晚的演出
This month we are still a bit lazy and so, so our Thursdays are just coming back to life with a chill vibe. Check our selection of pre-weekend shows and enjoy a drink and some delicious snacks while you peruse our artists' more laid back side.
First on THU 11TH, Beijing's only and wonderful A Cappella choir JING SING will come show their eclectic selection of vocals only songs ranging from last year's pop hits to timeless doo-wop classics and some extra Hakuna Matata fun.
徇众要求，周四晚的演出回来了，相比周末，周四的氛围相对欢快而不会太挤拥。11号周四，京Sing，我们北京的欢乐合唱团再度登场，现场气氛一流！25号的周四晚，英国歌姬南希将带来精彩的不插电之夜。
Meanwhile, on THU 25TH, always fun Nancy J. Brown will let us enjoy together a relaxed, acoustic set night showcasing nothing more or less than our all time favorite songs.
JAZZ IN APRIL
爵士四月
Every month we invite musicians from the local as well as the international jazz scene to Modernista. April is no exception and so we look forward to many opportunities for relaxing Jazz evenings.
On SUN 14TH we come back to the Sunday jazz routine with drummer DIMITRY STRELIANNY QUARTET.
这个月我们的爵士活动频繁，14号的周日，有鼓手斯彻利安尼带来的爵士四重奏。
By the end of the month, after Daan Kleijn show on SUN 21ST, we welcome on SUN 28TH, for the last Sunday Jazz Series in April, the oneiric, film-like original compositions of THE SEE SAW QUARTET, who are back with new music after a long recording break.
21号的周日有刚才介绍过的荷兰吉他手Daan Kleijn三重奏，月底28号的周日就有才华洋溢的See Saw四重奏。
Finally, right before the MAY 1ST HOLIDAY kicks on, we are set for a big band jazz extravanganza on APRIL TUE 30TH thanks to the eight piece DNV Pro Jazz Band, who will be performing at Modernista for the first time.
最后，五一前的30号周二晚将特别安排演出，DNV Pro八人爵士大乐队将会处女登场，绝对期待！
DANCE COURSES
各个舞蹈课
"Take more chances and dance more dances" with our weekly dance evenings at Modernista. Learn salsa or swing dance, meet new people and enjoy exquisite cocktails every Monday and Wednesday evening.
Starting MON 1ST our Cuban dance teacher Gustavo will make Modernista's Salsa community move across our black & white checked floor, every Monday. If you would like to know more or sign up, scan the QR code in the post.

After the classes we travel from the cold streets of Beijing to the warm corners of Venezuela with our house band SAVOR LATINO playing latin music every Monday evening from 10PM until late.
当然，每周的萨萨舞课过后，真正来自拉美的拉丁味道乐队都会震撼登场，为我们带来全北京最狂野的拉丁舞会！
If you're more inspired by the elegant and playful swing dancing of the 1930s, we suggest you join our weekly Balboa Swing Dance Night. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned dancer everyone are welcome to join Wednesday social dance evening 9.30PM every Wednesday.
