The south extension of Metro Line 4 from Yongjiang Road Station to Puyan Station will be put into operation at 5:30pm today.

The extension links Shangcheng District with Binjiang District in the south of Qiantang River with a total length of 11.2 kilometers with eight stations, namely, Yongjiang Road Station, Nanxing Bridge Station, Fuxing Road Station, Shuicheng Bridge Station, Lianzhuang Station, Zhejiang Chinese Medicine University, Yangjiadun Station and Puyan Station.

Among them, Lianzhuang Station will be opened at a later time.

The 11.2-kilometer extension of Metro Line 4 will connect with Line 5 at Nanxingqiao Station and Line 6 at Zhejiang Chinese Medicine University Station. It takes about 20 minutes to commute from Yongjiang Road Station to Puyan Station. And it takes about 40 minutes to cover the 18 stations along the Metro Line 4 from Pengbu Station to Puyan Station.

The first metros leave from Pengbu Station for Puyan Station and from Puyan Station to Pengbu Station both at 6am, while the last metro starts from Pengbu Station to Puyan Station at 10:51pm, and that from Puyan Station to Pengbu Station at 10:55pm.

Passengers can just swipe their smartphones to enter the electric gates at all 72 subway stations in the city. Users of Alipay, a mobile payment app, will get a QR code on their phones for swiping to enter the electric gates and the price will be deducted from their Alipay account after they swipe to exit the subway.

Similar services have also been opened by UnionPay. With its quick pass installed in smartphones, passengers can also take the subway without a paper ticket.
