Zanhuang Chinese Date, also known as Zanhuang long jujube or golden silk jujube, an indigenous speciality of Zanhuang County, Hebei Province. Zanhuang Chinese date had been a tribute paid to the royal families for many dynasties. With great nutritional value, it is lauded as “the king of fruits” and “the king of natural vitamins”.
赞皇大枣，别名赞皇长枣、金丝大枣。河北省赞皇县原生大枣品种，为该县特产。赞皇大枣是历代皇家贡枣，果实营养价值丰富，被誉为“百果之首”、“天然维生素之王”。
Zanhuang Chinese date has a cultivation history of over one thousand years. Historical records show that the cultivation history can trace back to the time before the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). During the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), such dates had been cultivated widely. During the Qing Dynasty (1636-1912), in almost every house there was a jujube tree, and jujube tree had become one of the important woody plants. According to books and records on the Ming Dynasty, during the reign of Emperor Wuzong of Tang (814-846), soup with Zanhuang Chinese dates was offered to the emperor by Chancellor Li Deyu. With the effect in body building and delaying the aging process, Zanhuang Chinese date found favor with the emperor.
河北的赞皇县栽培种植大枣有上千年的历史，据资料记载，赞皇大枣早在元代以前就有栽培，明代已广泛栽植，清代以来几乎家家有枣树，并成为重要的木本作物。明代典籍记载：唐武帝李炎在位时，宰相李德裕用赞皇大枣调羹进献于皇帝，其强身健体、延缓衰老作用明显。因此，赞皇大枣深得皇帝的喜爱。
There is a saying among the Zanhuang people, that is, “Three jujubes one day keeps aging away.” Like a fine work of art judging from its shape, Zanhuang Chinese date is rich in consistency and flavorful in taste.
赞皇县民间谚语有“一日吃仨枣，百岁不见老”之说。看外形，酷似一件精美的艺术珍玩；剥开后，则见肉质肥厚；吃一口，味道甘甜，鲜美如酪。
赞皇大枣为何又叫金丝大枣？
因干枣掰开能拉出尺把长的金丝纤连不断，故名为“赞皇金丝大枣”。赞皇大枣历史上曾多次贡奉朝廷，被誉为“贡枣”。赞皇大枣素有“七个一尺、十个一斤”之称。看外形，体硕如卵，紫红发亮，酷似一件精美的艺术珍玩；剥开后，则见肉持肥厚，质地细密、莹如冰雪；晒干掰开，尺把长的密丝纤连不断。故也被人们誉为“金丝蜜”。
