2022年5月26日,联合国教科文组织驻华代表处代表夏泽翰教授和文化部门与联合国教科文组织名录遗产地可持续旅游教席主持人、中山大学旅游学院张朝枝教授及其团队举行会谈。
联合国教科文组织名录遗产地可持续旅游教席设立于2020年5月27日,目标为建立一个可持续旅游研究、培训、信息服务、文件编制的集成系统,以及促进中国与亚洲、太平洋、欧洲及其他地区的高层次的、国际知名学者、教员之间的合作。这是中山大学主持的两个联合国教科文组织教席之一。

中山大学的历史可追溯到1924年孙中山创立的国立广东大学,是中国的著名学府之一,其五个校区分布在广州、珠海和深圳。中山大学旅游学院2004年建立,是是全国首批旅游管理博士学位授予权单位。
夏泽翰博士称赞了教席与教科文的合作,包括“熊猫大使”遗产教育和可持续生计试点以及联合编写《中国世界遗产能力建设手册》系列出版物中的《中国世界遗产地可持续旅游管理》分册,并强调指出这是与联合国教科文组织深度合作、发挥价值的最佳实践之一。双方也讨论了未来的合作方向,特别是在世界遗产公约50周年框架下合作开展活动,以及在亚太以至全球范围的复合名录遗产地(即同时属于两个及以上联合国教科文组织名录)进一步开展遗产教育和意识提升活动。

Meeting of Prof Shahbaz Khan and the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Tourism at UNESCO Designated Sites
On 26 May 2022, Professor Shahbaz Khan, Director and Representative of UNESCO Beijing Office, and the Culture Unit met with the Professor Zhang Chaozhi, holder of the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Tourism at UNESCO Designated Sites, and his team at the School of Tourism Management, Sun Yat-sen University.
The UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Tourism at UNESCO Designated Sites was established on 27 May 2020, with an aim to establish an integrated network and platform for research, capacity building, information sharing and normative instrument development in the field of sustainable tourism research, and to foster collaboration and exchange among researchers and practitioners in sustainable tourism development around the world. This is one of the two UNESCO Chairs hosted by Sun Yat-sen University.
Sun Yat-sen University, which traces back to the National Kwangtung University founded by Dr. Sun Yat-sen in 1924, is one of the leading universities in China located in Guangdong Province across five campuses in Guangzhou, Zhuhai and Shenzhen Municipalities. The University’s School of Tourism Management, established in 2004, was the first program in China to grant PhD degrees in tourism management.
Prof Khan acknowledged the strong collaborations between UNESCO and the Chair, and highlighted the Chair as one of the best practices in linking with UNESCO programs and getting the value of working with UNESCO. The collaborations include the “Panda Ambassador” initiative on heritage education and sustainable livelihood and authorship of the volume on Tourism Management at World Heritage Sites in China in the publication series “China World Heritage Capacity Building Manuals”. The parties also discussed potential future cooperation, in particular within the framework of the 50th Anniversary of the Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage, and in furthering heritage educational and awareness raising activities for multi-designated sites, i.e. sites that are in more than one UNESCO designated site networks, in the Asia-Pacific region and globally.
