Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a graduate programme (Master’s degree, PhD, or equivalent), or have within the last 12 months graduated with a Master’s degree or PhD.
Excellent command of English (both oral and written).
Good sense of teamwork, adaptability, and commitment to assigned tasks.
Good computer and IT skills and experience in using Office software packages.
Good communication skills, including writing skills.
Good interpretation and translation skills of Chinese and English.
Majoring in culture-related fields (heritage, art history, architecture, archaeology, tourism, etc.) or other relevant disciplines.
Mastering one language of East Asian countries (Korean, Japanese, Mongolian, Chinese) would be an asset.
Responsibilities
Assist in the implementation of cultural projects and activities related to preservation and management of cultural and natural heritage, safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage and promotion of cultural & creative industries. Liaise closely with relevant colleagues to assist in preparation and translation of project periodical reports, briefings, PowerPoint presentations, WeChat articles, press releases, and other outreach and communication materials. Assist in the organization of promotional activities, forums, workshops, trainings, and exhibitions as planned by the Section. Provide assistance to administrative tasks including documentation and filing. Undertake other tasks that may be assigned by the Supervisor.
Additional Notes
The duration of the internship is six months, at least four working days each week, full-time preferred. Interns are entitled to 2.5 days of leave per month during their internship.
Interns are expected to be working at the UNESCO Beijing Office during their internship. We cannot facilitate online internship.
UNESCO Beijing Office provides transportation allowance to interns. However, costs and arrangements for additional travels, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
Through this internship programme, you will gain professional experience in a multicultural international organization. It will also provide you with learning opportunity to learn about UNESCO’s mandate, programmes and processes as well as enhance your academic and technical knowledge through practical assignments.
As the internship programme is not connected with the recruitment process, the granting of an internship should not be interpreted in any way as a preliminary step towards employment with the Organization.
