After fierce competition in the preliminary competition of SPBCN international English spelling conference, 252 students from SIBS elementary school grades 1-5 stood out and are qualified to participate in the second round. The Scripps National Spelling Bee (SPCN), aglobal Spelling conference, has been going on for 94 years in the United States, with over 30 million participants worldwide each year. Since its entry into China in 2009, SPBCN has won high recognition from education authorities and schools in various cities for its high interest and appreciation.
In the New Year, we hope to make more SIBS students fall in love with English learning through SPBCN international English spelling conference, and train themselves through the competition. I wish the spellers of SIBS another success in the next round, looking forward to your wonderful performance! The second round will be held in February 21th, please refer to the notice of academic office for details.

中学部英语词汇比赛落幕The MSHS English vocabulary competition is over 为了鼓励学生们为托福和SAT试做好准备，养成循序渐进的好习惯，君诚中学部特在本周举行了6至12年级英语词汇比赛。比赛采用的是Vocabulary.com的视觉词库，这是由Thinkmap团队开发的交互式词库和词典，该公司以使用可视化促进交流，学习和发现而闻名。 最终，团队赛的桂冠由G9B班的A队摘得，G8B班的A队获得亚军，G7B的A队和G6B的A队并列第三名。而个人明星赛的冠军是G9B的Joven，亚军是G11A的Jovic，G7B的Howa取得季军。
特别感谢以下志愿者：G7C 陶柏予、G8A 贾海艺、G7C 朱宸萱、G7C何妍睿、 G7C 宋雨桐、G7C 陈美汐。学生志愿者们在比赛中担任了重要的角色。他们紧密合作确保选手们按时到场并协助记录比赛结果。
In order to encourage students to prepare for TOEFL and SAT exams and develop the habit of taking steps, SIBS MSHS held a vocabulary competition for grades 6 to 12 this week. The competition make use of the visual thesaurus on Vocabulary.com which is an interactive lexicon and dictionary developed by the Thinkmap team, known for using visualization to facilitate communication, learning and discovery.
In the end, G9B-A won the champion, G8B-A won the second place, and G7B-A and G6B-A tied for the third place. The individual race was won by Joven of G9B, the runner-up was Jovic of G11A, and Howa of G7B came in third.

Student volunteers also played essential roles in these contests. They worked together with teachers tightly to make sure the players can join the game on time and keep the result.

It is well known that the ability to think is the intellectual core of a child. And mathematics contains divergent thinking, convergent thinking, changeover thinking, reverse thinking, reverse thinking, logical thinking, spatial thinking and more than 20 ways of thinking. After the final exam, in order to be able to quickly and efficiently improve the child's mathematical ability, fifth-grade teacher designed and carried out the thinking math class according to the students' overall situation thought math class, expanding the topic of "trip", such as “objects meet","objects apart", "objects chase and meet " and so on, through the guide students to explore and cooperate, make the students master the problem solving skills and methods, to improve students' ability to cooperate analyze and solve problems.

幼儿园本周活动剪影Silhouette of preschool activity this week 当鼠年遇到自然拼读会发生什么样的事情呢？让我们来看看K1的小朋友在做什么？伴随着morning song相互问好，孩子们来到了自然拼读M乐园，在这里，通过游戏互动、表演模仿、感知触摸等方式认识了man、mall、money、monkey、mom、mouse、mask、motorcycle，还知道了M的发音/m/。最后小朋友们一起探讨老鼠Mouse，一起制作老鼠玩具。
K2本周的主题是制作鼠年鞭炮。孩子们跟随老师用红色的卡纸制作出一个小老鼠的头部，随后孩子们利用综合材料开始设计小老鼠的表情。主角小老鼠完成后，孩子们又开始制作红红的鞭炮，为校园增添浓浓的年味儿，最后将小老鼠和鞭炮组合在一起，悬挂在走廊上。孩子们都围在下面端详着自己的“鼠年”作品，原来他们最喜欢的还是自己亲手完成的小老鼠呀！
What will happen when the year of the rat encounters natural spelling? Let's see what the children of K1 are doing. Along with the morning song greeting, the children came to the nature spelling M park, where they got to know man、mall、money、monkey、mom、mouse、mask、motorcycle and the pronunciation of M /m/ through game interaction, performance imitation, and sensory touch. Finally, the children talk about Mouse and make Mouse toys together.
This week's theme of K2 is making firecrackers in the year of the rat. The children followed the teacher to make a mouse's head out of red card paper. Then the children used a combination of materials to design the mouse's facial expressions, some of which were large and small eyes, some of which were big noses, and some with big front teeth. After the completion of the leading role of the mouse, the children began to make red firecrackers, for the leading role of the mouse to add a strong New Year atmosphere, and finally hanging the mouse and firecrackers together in the corridor. The children are all looking at their own "year of the rat" works, eventually they found they mostly like their own hand completed small mouse ah!

In alignment with this new level of digital citizenship, we are also excited to shift to a more transparent method of grading and reporting. Starting second semester, parents and students will have online access to every teacher’s digital gradebook and homework assignment calendar. This means that parents can log into their own Managebac account and see their child's daily homework assignments as well as scores on formative and summative assessments.

Chinese and Foreign math teachers have been working to develop meaningful ways to integrate learning in mathematics. By accentuating common themes and merging conceptual learning with computation, students benefit and continue to show high levels of achievement on MAP tests as compared to the averages of same-grade peers in the United States and around the world.

小学部下学期ASA报名启动ASA Selection Notice for Second Semester 尊敬的家长：2019-2020 下学期ASA 课程已经启动，课程时间为 2020 年 2 月 25 日至 2020 年 6 月 4 日，共计 12 周，其中 3 月 10 日至 3 月 12 日，4 月 7 日至 4 月9 日，4 月 28 日至 4 月 30 日没有课程。ASA 课程设置在每周周二、三、四，时间段为 15：35-16：20。敬请关注教务处相关通知。
Dear KG3-G5 parents：
This semester we will have ASA courses from February 25, 2020 to June 4, 2020, total 12 weeks (No ASA Mar/10-12, Apr/7-9,Apr /28-30). The ASA class time is 15:35- 16:20, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The ASA selection process is as follows:
1. Online Course Selection: Please log inon http://sibs-asa.gicp.net (Google Chrome recommended) enter the username(provided by Chinese homeroom teacher) and password(asa1234) from January 9th to January 14th. Please select the courses after changing the password.
2. Online Courses Check: Please log in again during January 17 th - February 4th , if you find that your child’s selected course has been cancelled due to insufficient number of students, please select a retained course again.
3. Online Course Confirmation: Please login the system to confirm the courses which you have selected from February 6th to February 9 th . If you find that your selection has not been completed, please contact us to confirm your courses before February 12th .
4. Payment: After confirming the courses, please transfer to the following bank account before 23:59 PM February 13th .
