幻化的田园默剧

张雷的画里，一种阒无声息的语言--属于暗示的而不是隐喻的--在诉说。在幻化的情境当中，一切人物和物体都干净利落地变形为其自身应该有的样子。那种默默靠近却不急于与你对话的欲言又止，可以感受到抵近的温暖，又可以给予你加倍的疏离意味。神秘的氛围用近乎白描的手法表达出来，纯度极高的色彩和通透的绿色调滋润心脾，而黑白世界恍若连续不断的梦境。铁线蚕丝般的线条肆意顿挫翻折，是艺术家独有的书写性入画的风格实验。他在创作中排斥了当代绘画中惯常的尖利浑浊和混乱，代之以柔和清澈与明晰。采撷于司空见惯的生活场景的画面，因张雷对生活的热情拥抱和对绘画的热爱，处处呈现勃勃的生机。这是他的内心充盈柔情的田园，若你凝视而渐渐沉浸，你会与他携手走入其中。

The Transfiguration of Pantomime

in the Garden

Zhang Lei uses implying instead of metaphor to construct narratives in his soundless visual world. In that metamorphic environment, all the painted figures and objects shed their mundane camouflage and return to their purest stage. Those figures and objects are trying to come close to you without a sense of aggression. They are trying to have a conversion with you, but they are not eager to speak first. The warmth within those paintings moves you. At the same time, you feel isolated, the unease emotion in the paintings prevents you from having a comprehensive understanding. Zhang Lei uses a candid approach to portray a mysterious atmosphere. The saturated green in his oil painting is a mediator for relaxation. The black and white world of his monotype is like a never-ending dream. Robust and silky brushstrokes freely mixed up with each other, this is Zhang Lei’s audacious experiment of combining his calligraphy and painting practice. Zhang Lei rejects the excessive use of harsh criticism and chaotic abstraction in contemporary paintings. Instead, he wants warmth that can touch people and clarity that create resonance. The artist employs ordinary scenes from his life, it is because he holds enormous passion and love for his daily life. While he paints, he is always in such a joyful mood. As a result, his painting feels lively. All those paintings and monotypes are the truthful depiction of Zhang Lei’s Garden of Sincerity. If you take a closer look and immerse yourself in those artworks, he will lead you inside his garden while holding your hand.
