据法新社报道，当地时间4月20日，意大利一家地方法院裁定，该国一名男子因工作需要长时间使用手机罹患脑瘤，他每月可以从工伤保险机构领取535美元的赔偿金。这名男子名叫罗伯特·罗密欧，现年57岁，在审判过程中，他表示自己已经在一家电信公司工作了15年，而工作职责迫使他每个工作日要使用3-4个小时的手机。

A man has been awarded monthly social security(社会保障) payments after a court found that his brain tumor was caused by a company-issued cellphone.

在一家法院裁定一名男子的脑瘤是由公司电话所引起的之后，他获得了每月的社会保障金赔偿。

Roberto Romeo was given a phone by Telecom Italia, which he used for three hours a day for 15 years in the job. Over time, he developed a non-cancerous tumor and the loss of hearing in one ear.

15年来，罗伯特·罗密欧在工作中每天要使用由意大利电信公司提供的电话长达3个小时。渐渐地，他长了一个良性肿瘤，一只耳朵也失去了听力。

Last Thursday, it emerged a court in the northern city of Ivrea has sided with Romeo, ordering the mobile network giant to pay him up to 7,000 euro a year (around $7,500).

上周四，该事件在意大利北部城市伊夫雷亚开庭，法院站在了罗密欧这一边，并要求电信公司每年支付他近7000欧元（约7500美元）的赔偿金。

It was the first trial court verdict(n. 裁定) in the world 'to recognize a link between cellphone use and the development of brain tumor'.

"The norms say intense(adj. 密集的) use is one hour a day," Romeo said. " I went well beyond the limits.”

罗密欧说道：“标准规定打电话的时间是最多一天一小时。我远远超出该规定限制。”

Romeo sued the state social security agency, not Telecom Italia, where he still works. He said he is not against cellphone use, but that consumers should adopt safety measures.

罗密欧起诉的是国家社会保障机构，而不是自己现在所在的公司--意大利电信。他表示，自己并不反对使用手机，只是消费者应该用安全的方式使用。
