The list is compiled from thousands of suggestions from around the world that come in throughout the year。 Here is the full 2016 list 1.So: “Currently, it is being overused as the first word in the answer to ANY question。 For instance, ‘How did you learn to play the piano?’ Answer: ‘So my dad was in a classical music club 。。。 。’”
2.Conversation: “We are invited to ‘join the conversation‘ if we want to give an opinion。 This expression is overused and it is annoying。’ 3.Problematic: “Somewhere along the line, this word became a trendy replacement for ‘that is a problem。’ I just hate it。” 4.Price point: “It has no ‘point。’ It is just a ‘price。’” Price point(价格点):“本来就不存在什么‘点’,这个词的意思就是价格。” 5.Secret sauce: “Usually used in a sentence explaining the ‘secret’ in excruciating public detail。 Is this a metaphor for business success based on the fast food industry?”

6.Break the Internet: “An annoying bit of hyperbole about the latest saucy picture or controversy that is already becoming trite。” Break the Internet(玩坏了互联网):“用来形容一件被人们加以夸张,令人厌烦的事情,往往是最新的重口味图片或重口味话题,而且已经无人不知。” 7.Walk it back: “It seems as if every politician who makes a statement has to ‘walk it back,’ meaning retract the statement, or explain it in laborious detail to the extent that the statement no longer has any validity or meaning once it has been ‘walked back。’” Walk it back(话说回来):“似乎所有政客在做演说的时候都要加上一句‘话说回来’,也就是收回自己说过的话,或者连篇累牍的加以解释,以至于他说过的话一旦来个‘话说回来’,就不存在任何作用或意义了。” 8.Physicality: The word is overused by “every sports broadcaster and writer。” Physicality(实体感):每个体育解说员和作家都在滥用这个词。 9.Manspreading: “Men don’t need another disgusting-sounding word thrown into the vocabulary to describe something they do … You’re just taking too much room on this train seat, be a little more polite 。。。 。”
你在公共列车上占的位置太多了,请礼貌一点……” 10.Presser: Used in the news industry to refer to a press conference。 Presser(新闻发布会):在新型工业中用于指称新闻发布会。
