Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunication
Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT) is a university directly under the Ministry of Education which is established with joint efforts by the Ministry of Industry and information Technology. BUPT is one of the first key universities of "project 211", and one of the key universities of "project 985 innovation platform for superiority subject". It is a university featuring information technology with engineering subjects playing the dominant role, while engineering, management, arts and science are coordinately developed. BUPT is an important training base for China's information technology professionals. The Information and Telecommunication Engineering subject in BUPT ranks in the 1st place in China in terms of the comprehensive academic strength.
There are currently thirteen academic units in BUPT: School of Information and Communication Engineering, School of Electronic Engineering, School of Computer Science and so on. Besides, there are national key laboratory of four. And BUPT has 9 academicians, more than 650 professors and deputy professors. Our university has maintained 100% graduate student employment rate for many years in a row, with undergraduates maintaining a rate of over 99%. In addition, BUPT students get outstanding records in various major competitions in mathematics, physics, electronics and English.
BUPT attaches great importance to the exchanges and cooperation with other higher education institutions both at home and abroad and has established inter-university academic exchange programs with over 70 universities form 40 countries and regions. BUPT has also cooperated successfully with many world-renowned enterprises in telecommunications to create a better environment for students to develop their modern and international consciousness.
In 2004, BUPT initiated the International School to implement the International Joint Degree Programs with Queen Mary, University of London. Over 83 percent graduates pursued their higher education abroad. The Confucius Institute at the University of the South Pacific (CI-USP), headquartered in Fiji, is jointly established by BUPT and the University of the South Pacific (USP).
