Five new books released on global migration conference
As globalization encounters headwinds, issues of global talent mobility and international migration governance are receiving increased attention.
On July 13, 2019, the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) held a book launch for research findings in global talent and migration flow, during the third Conference on Global Talent Mobility and International Migration held in Beijing, China.
At the book launch ceremony, five books regarding China's international migration and global talent governance were released, including Mobility and Governance: Global Talents, Migration and Migration Law; Migration and the 2030 Agenda: A Guide for Practitioners; Research Handbook of International Talent Management; The Rule of Law on Overseas Chinese Affairs and Oral History of Returned Overseas Chinese (Jinan).
The five works analyze the current situation and challenges for global talent mobility and international migration governance from different angles. They also look forward to the next steps in global talent management and governance, aiming to promote global talent mobility and provide suggestions for China on talent governance.
Mobility and Governance: Global Talents, Migration and Migration Law
At the ceremony, CCG President Wang Huiyao presented Mobility and Governance: Global Talents, Migration and Migration Law, edited by Wang and Liu Guofu, professor of School of Law, Beijing University of Technology.
This book is published by World Knowledge Press and contains more than 30 articles. It consists of six parts: overseas Chinese culture and international strategy, international talent flow, training and social integration, Chinese migration legal system research, international migration policy and economic development, citizenship and migration rights protection, migration management and non-formal migration governance.
It brings together the insights of famous experts and scholars from the fields of talent flow in China and abroad, and presents the latest research in related fields.
The book points out that the development of international migration will have a positive impact on promoting global talent mobility and promoting talent exchange and integration between various ethnic groups and countries.
This book aims to explore China's international migration policies and theories and promote the development of China's international migration management.
Migration and the 2030 Agenda: A Guide for Practitioners
Giuseppe Crocetti, chief of mission in China for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) released Migration and the 2030 Agenda: A Guide for Practitioners at the ceremony.
The book is commissioned by the IOM that has joined the UN System as the UN Migration Agency since 2016. The Chinese version of the book was translated by CCG.
This book is designed as a guide for government actors, both national and local, involved in any process of implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The focus of this guide is to help policymakers implement the migration aspects of the SDGs. For example, policymakers can use this guide to integrate migration into local or national development planning, by designing and implementing interventions that relate to migration in the context of the SDGs.
For actors with experience in migration mainstreaming, this guide offers a new approach that is based on the 2030 Agenda. For those with no experience in migration mainstreaming, it offers an introduction on how migration and development are linked in the context of the SDGs, and how to take action around these connections.
It is accompanied by two complementary tools that help illustrate linkages between migration and the SDGs: (I) a comprehensive booklet which outlines the linkages between migration and each SDG and (ii) a poster which summarizes these linkages.
Research Handbook of International Talent Management
Research Handbook of International Talent Management was presented by Yipeng Liu, who is the editor for this book and currently is a professor of Management at Henley Business School, University of Reading.
Since research into talent management tends to lack theoretical underpinnings, especially from international, multidisciplinary, and comparative perspectives, this research handbook aims to fill the gap, bringing together a range of leading researchers, scholars, and thinkers to debate and advance the conceptualization and understanding of this multifaceted subject.
With chapters covering key topics across multiple domains of management and organization studies, the Research Handbook of International Talent Management explores topics from innovative entrepreneurial enterprises to international businesses.
It also examines how talent management relates to sustainability and public management, providing in-depth coverage of the field for an interdisciplinary approach to what is one of the grand challenges facing the global economy today.
This research handbook is a resource for students of human resources management, business studies and public management policy, as well as for researchers with an interest in talent management, international management, and entrepreneurship and innovation.
The Rule of Law on Overseas Chinese Affairs
The Rule of Law on Overseas Chinese Affairs was released by Liu Guofu, professor of School of Law, Beijing University of Technology.
This book was edited by Mr. Liu and CCG President Wang Huiyao, and published by Jinan University Press. It aims to explore the current situation of the laws and regulations of overseas Chinese, summarize the problems faced by the laws and regulations system of overseas Chinese, and discuss related issues, such as the judicial guarantee for overseas Chinese affairs, the future development of laws and regulations for overseas Chinese, and visa policy for overseas Chinese.
The book is divided into three sections: the development of the rule of law overseas Chinese, the overseas Chinese law and regulation system, as well as overseas Chinese donation laws and Chinese migration laws for overseas Chinese.
Oral History of Returned Overseas Chinese (Jinan)
Oral History of Returned Overseas Chinese (Jinan) was released by Zhang Zhenjiang, dean and professor at School of International Studies / Academy of Overseas Chinese Studies, Jinan University at the book launch ceremony.
This book is edited by Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese in Jinan University and School of International Studies / Academy of Overseas Chinese Studies, Jinan University.
Published by Jinan University Press, this book is based on the true stories of the returned overseas Chinese and includes old photos from collections. It recounts historical events encountered by overseas Chinese and Chinese in the world over more than half a century.
The book includes a great number of interviews with more than 40 returned overseas Chinese and returned to China to work and live in Jinan University.
