Treaty of Paris 巴黎和约 - September 3：美国历史上的今天

内容提要：1783年英美签在巴黎署和平条约，英国承认美国独立，认同这13个殖民地是美国。这一条约的签署也结束了美国独立战争。

On September 3, 1783, the final peace treaty 和平条约 was signed between the 13 American colonies 殖民地 and Great Britain.

This peace treaty ended the American Revolutionary War 美国独立战争. It caused Great Britain to recognize 认可 the 13 colonies as the United States of America. 

Before the Revolutionary War, the colonies belonged to Great Britain. For more than 10 years before the war began, there had been bad feelings between the British government and the American colonies. The British government wanted to control the colonies more. The Americans wanted to be controlled less. 

The British government wanted the colonists 殖民地居民 to pay more taxes, but the people refused. Finally, the British army was sent to America to show the colonies that Great Britain was still in charge 统治. 

The American Revolutionary War began on April 19, 1775, with the Battle of Lexington. It took the colonists eight years before they defeated one of the most powerful countries in the world.

The leader of the army of the American colonies was George Washington. Washington became Commander in Chief 总司令 of the army. He found his soldiers to be small in number; poorly trained; and without enough guns, clothing, and food.

For eight years, these poorly trained and undersupplied 缺乏供给的  soldiers stood up against 与……对抗 one of the best-trained armies in the world. In the end, they won. 

George Washington went on to become the first President of the United States. The 13 colonies became the United States of America.
