Foreword
“室内”是张业兴经常描绘的场景,它们往往来自于我们记忆中似曾相识的片段,一盏夜灯,几段帘幕,角落里丛生的绿植。“帘布”与“帷幔”是画中故事的道具,也是阻隔观看的屏障。张业兴对于如何在绘画中思考故事和空间关系,有着极大的兴趣,画中的形式总是能将故事掩藏,将观众的所见之物引向漂浮的“此刻”,像是“刚刚发生”和“已然结束”的不确定关系。犹如夜晚的窗帘,拉开帘布,一个窗外的无限世界若隐若现,拉下帘布,屋内的故事有着自己的发生,人们在夜晚,在卧室,在客厅,记忆在不完整的时空中流淌:在夜色的遮蔽下,每个人都过着极其有趣的生活。

“星光”系列是徐小国最新的创作,三件大幅绘画作品和两张纸本构成了他独特的“星光”。然而,这里的星光并非是对夜空中星光的再现和描摹,而是将“星光”作为一种象征和隐喻,一种普遍存在的忽隐忽现的生命闪烁。“星光”在徐小国的绘画世界中,成为画面中感知的律动,从底稿到完成,各种情绪、生命、语言的思考在画面中反复交替,颤动的笔触,朦胧的形色,若隐若现的光创造了空间、形式和斑点。“星光”像是画面中跃动的生命,也像是诗歌中字与字之间微妙的韵律,从象形走向遐想,从意义走向语言自身的奥秘。于是,“星光”从浩瀚的宇宙,引向感知的历史,引向造物者的手,绘画的语言,细微渺小的近处。

“迭奏”并非是对袁乐单幅作品的描述,而是作品和作品之间的关系,它们之间形式、秩序、结构、速度之间交替的变量。这种变量有时来自于现实中的不同物像,机械运动的美感,管道扭转的复杂,或是一次偶然的撞击;有时来自于绘画自身的历史,立体派的语法,表现主义的张力,抽象艺术的秩序。双重的变奏组成了画面中的直线与曲线,形状与动感。对于“速度”的强调,在袁乐画面中尤为明显,它来自于机械时代的变革与更替,金属的光感与质变,也是个人生活的不断加速,创作快感在画面中的显形。“迭奏”对于袁乐,既是绘画语言的韵律,亦是快速变更的时代生活的写照。

夜帘、星光、迭奏,像是小说的三个篇章,三个不同的韵律,组成了一个想象与日常的故事。在这个故事中韵律又总是息息相关,人们在夜晚,在窗帘背后的若有所想,组成了故事的瞬间感知,而那些画面中茂密、闪烁的光点,将这些记忆和情感的片段组成一片高悬的星空,星空下的万物犹如迷宫,有着截然不同的秩序和轨迹,成就了绘画和现实的变奏与迭奏。

"Indoors" are the scenes often depicted by Zhang Yexing, which often come from the familiar segments in our memory, a night lamp, several curtains, and a cluster of green plants in the corner. "Curtain" and "valance" are props of the story in the painting, as well as barriers to watch. Zhang Yexing has a great interest in how to think about stories and spatial relationships in painting, the forms of painting can always hide the stories and lead what the viewer sees to the floating "moment", like the uncertain relationship between "just happened" and "already over". Just like the curtain at night, when the curtain is opened, an infinite world looms outside the window, when the curtain is pulled down, and the story inside of the house has its own happening, people in the night, in the bedroom, in the living room, the memory flows in the incomplete space-time: under the cover of the night, everyone is living an extremely interesting life.
"Starlight" series is Xu Xiaoguo's latest creation, three large paintings and two papers formed his unique "starlight". However, the starlight is not the reproduction and description of the starlight in the night sky, but the "starlight" as a symbol and metaphor, a kind of universal flickering life. In Xu Xiaoguo's painting world, "starlight" becomes the rhythm of perception in the painting, from the draft to the completion, various thoughts of emotion, life and language alternate repeatedly in the painting, the trembling brushstrokes, the hazy shape and color, and the vaguely visible light created space, form and spots. "Starlight" is like the dynamic life in the panting, also like the subtle rhythm between words in poetry, from pictograph to daydream, and from meaning to the mystery of language itself. Thus, "starlight" leads from the vast universe to the history of perception, to the hand of the creator, to the language of painting, to the tiny proximity.
"Refrain" is not a description of Brandon Yuan's single works, but the relationship between work and work, and the alternating variable of form, order, structure and speed between them. This variable sometimes comes from different objects in reality, the beauty of mechanical motion, the complexity of pipe torsion, or an accidental collision; Sometimes it comes from the history of painting itself, the grammar of Cubism, the tension of Expressionism, and the order of abstract art. Double variations formed the lines and curves, shape and movement in the painting. The emphasis on "speed" is particularly evident in Brandon's paintings, it comes from the change and replacement of the mechanical age, the gloss and qualitative change of metal, and the continuous acceleration of personal life, the pleasure of creation is revealed in the paintings. For Brandon, "refrain" is not only the rhythm of the painting language, but also the portrayal of life in the rapidly changing times.

1977年生于西安,2000年毕业于西安美术学院油画系,现工作生活于北京。
徐小国的作品涉及绘画、图片、影像、声音等艺术形式,近年来获得“798艺术节青年艺术家邀请展”一等奖,“北京电影学院国际新媒体艺术三年展” 影像艺术青年艺术家学院奖,“光华千玉奖”等。其作品多次参加国内外重要艺术机构的群展,其中包括瑞士卢塞恩美术馆、莫斯科当代艺术博物馆、澳大利亚白兔美术馆、波兰BWA美术馆、尤伦斯当代艺术中心、今日美术馆、中央美术学院美术馆、台北当代艺术馆、台北关渡美术馆、澳门艺术博物馆、OCAT当代艺术中心、当代唐人艺术中心、伊比利亚当代艺术中心、白盒子艺术馆、香港奥沙艺术中心等。

袁乐痴迷于机器文明的美感,虽人为创造,却产生了其独特自发性的特质,它的存在可能会受外在情感与环境的影响,但自身永远不会被制约,与一切都有关联但独立于一切。对袁乐来说,机器是现实的存在,也是可以与之对视的虚拟的存在。机器的复杂的结构,每一个有序而简洁的部分和环节,均发挥着无以伦比的潜能。如同在一个和谐的社会,人与人的平等,互惠和契约是那么真切而互为因果地存在着。

Zhang Yexing, born in 1981 in Shenyang, graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2008, and now lives and works in Beijing.
In his creation, Zhang Yexing is devoted to the personal expression of psychological space and visual narration and the study of formal language. In recent practice, his works translate daily visual memory, showing absurd artistic interest and value orientation that pays attention to social reality.

Xu Xiaoguo
He majored in Oil Painting and graduated from the Xi’an Academy of Fine Arts in 2000. Currently based in Beijing.
Xu Xiaoguo’s works take various artistic forms such as painting, pictorials, video and experimental music. In recent years, Xu Xiaoguo had been lauded with various accolades for his art, including but not limited to first prize for the "798 Arts Festival Young Artists Recommendation Exhibition", the "Academy Award for Young Artists of Film Media" from the Beijing Film Academy International New Media Arts Triennial Exhibition and the "Guanghua Qianyu Award". His works have participated in many group exhibitions of important art institutions at home and abroad. Brandon Yuan is obsessed with the aesthetic of machine civilization, although artificially created, it has produced its unique characteristics of spontaneity, its existence may be affected by external emotions and environment, but it will never be restricted, and it is related to but independent of everything. For Brandon, machines are both real beings and virtual beings that can be looked at. The complex structure of the machine, each orderly and concise part and link has unmatched potential. As in a harmonious society, the equality of people, reciprocity and contract are so real and exist as cause and effect.
