Online Learning Adds Up to Successful Math Assessments

CISB 2020-02-25

Being separated by thousands of kilometers and a handful of timezones hasn’t slowed the progress of CISB’s DP Mathematics classes. Indeed, despite the ongoing coronavirus campus lockdowns in China, online learning tools like Zoom are helping our Bobcats keep their skills sharp.

Prime example: DP Mathematics teacher Mamta Bhanot (who is also the head of that department) recently carried out a successful summative assessment for her course via Zoom. She calls the conferencing platform “user friendly” because "attendees don’t need to have a Zoom account. Just click the link sent by the host and you are good to connect.” Ms Bhanot adds that the assessment's question paper was shared using the platform’s share screen. In order to maintain CISB’s strict Academic Honesty Policy, the students were asked to remain visible in a WeChat video call throughout the assessment.

Click on the video below to see how our staff and students are approaching the challenge of being separated during this lockdown like a complex math equation that only needs knowledge and a little extra creativity to solve.
