How much does it cost to go to Shanghai Disneyland?

2016-05-17 NihaoSuzhou

You might be considering a trip to Shanghai Disneyland which will open officially on June 16.

The park has started trial operation on May 7, but most Chinese families are shocked at how expensive the trips are.

[Tickets]

If you visit the park during weekdays (public holidays and opening day excluded), a family of three will pay 1,020 yuan for tickets. If you go to the park on weekends, the cost for tickets would be 1,373 yuan for a family of three.

If you are planning a two-day trip, tickets on weekdays will cost you 1,938 yuan, and 2,610 yuan on weekends & holidays.

[Food]

Combos cost at least 70-80 yuan each in the park. Combos for two people cost about 250 yuan.

And they don't look like the ones in the advertisement.

This is the rice combo in the ad.

Then you get the real thing.

This is Micky Mouse chocolate tart in the ad.

But it's really small and costs 45 yuan each...

Children’s hotdog combo: 60 yuan

Grilled chicken fillet and rice: 60 yuan

Cheese and beef burger combo: 80 yuan

A bottle of Pepsi: 15 yuan

Xiaolongbao (small steamed bun): 6 yuan each

Those drinks cost 15 yuan each.

This is how the burger combo looks like.

Similar combo in Shanghai costs 30-40 yuan outside Disneyland. Local white collar workers say it is common to spend over 100 yuan for a meal in Shanghai, and food in Disney is just a little bit more expensive.

Your bags will be checked before entering the park. you can bring packed foods, but bread, cookies, eggs, and many other food are not allowed.

[Poll] Will you bring your own lunch if you visit Shanghai Disneyland?

[Hotel]

Hotels in Shanghai Disneyland can cost 1,000-3,600 yuan per night.

[Souvenirs]

Cinderella dress: 498 yuan

Spiderman costume: 498 yuan

Singing Elsa: 326 yuan

Slippers for children: 100 yuan

Ball pen: 66 yuan

Micky Mouse backpack: 342 yuan

Stuffed animals: 46 yuan (S), 144 yuan (M), 288 yuan (L)

Mickey Mouse in golden shoes: 220 yuan

[Parking]

If you drive your own car to the park, you will pay 100 yuan for parking.

A local media outlet in Suzhou estimated that a one-day family trip to Disneyland will cost at least 2,600 yuan on weekdays, including tickets (1,373 yuan), food (750 yuan), and souvenirs (500 yuan).

Some netizens say they are willing to pay a bit more in Disney than in other parks, because cultrual values in Disney are unique; others say Shanghai Disneyland is not a location for low- or medium-income families.

And of course you will be sharing the park with crowds!

You will line up for at least an hour before getting on any ride.
