What is PKU-TLR?
Founded in 2011, the Peking University Transnational Law Review (PKU-TLR) is the only U.S.-law-school-style student-edited English law journal in China, which publishes two issues each year in Spring and Fall. Until now, the Law Review has collectively published 4 volumes and 6 issues.These issues are accessible through a number of databases such as HeinOnline, Lexis China, Chinalawinfo and the hard copies of these issues are placed at the UNCITRAL Law Library, Yale Law School, Kirkland & Ellis LLP, King & Wood Mallesons, Jun He and Fangda Partners.
Focused on transnational law and comparative law, PKU-TLR aims to become a globally well-known law journal and to provide editors with valuable training experiences. In this regard, we warmly welcome you to join us in achieving this goal and enriching your own law school life.
What can be expected? 
Working as a law review editor is interesting, because it is intellectually challenging; and boring, because it is detail-oriented. A competent editor, is required not only to have a good grasp of legal knowledge, but also to have mental discipline and a sense of utmost responsibility. In the Law Review, an editor can expect to receive the following:
Credits
Each editor who substantively contributes to ONE issue of the Law Review is eligible to earn ONE J.D. credit. The earning of such credit is not subject to the 15-credit-per-quarter limit.
Academic Editing Skills


First, you will learn how to evaluate an academic article during article selection process. Second, you will hone your editing skills by participating in source gathering, blue-booking, formatting and other editing work. These skills are of great help to your academic and professional development.


Advantages in Career 
The law review experience will put you in an advantageous position in applying for legal internships or law school. Chinese employers, particularly those with U.S. law school experience, are attaching more importance to an applicant’s experience as a law review editor. Furthermore, law review editorship will be a great asset in U.S. law school application because it is genearlly considered as an outstanding academic achievement. In addition, the Law Review allows editors to communicate in depth with legal scholars, practitioners, and law students around the world, which is beneficial to the future career.

How to join us?

The editorship opens exclusively to from 2L J.D. & J.M. students. About 15% of the class will be selected as editors. The editorship is highly selective due to the demanding nature of law review work. Our selection process is so designed as to adequately reflect your competence as an editor. We endeavor to make this process fair and open.
We select our editors based on an applicant’s:
(i) Bluebook Skills (25%), 
(ii) Legal Translation Skills (25%),
(iii) Grades (35%), 
(iv) Personal Statement and CV/Résumé (15%).
