在最新的泰晤士高等教育世界大学排名中，中国科学技术大学位居大陆高校第3位 ，世界第80位；U.S.News 2020排名中位居大陆高校第3位，世界第128位。根据ESI（美国科学信息研究所基本科学指标数据库）2019年5月的统计分析，中国科大有13个学科（数学、物理学、化学、地球科学、生物学与生物化学、材料科学、工程学、计算机科学、临床医学、环境与生态学、社会科学总论、植物学与动物学、分子生物学与遗传学）进入世界前1%，其中物理学、化学、材料科学、工程学进入世界前1‰，在国内高校中位于前列。

In The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020, USTC is ranked the 3rd in Chinese mainland and the 80th in the world. In the 2020 Best Global Universities Rankings by U.S. News, USTC is ranked the 3rd in Chinese mainland and the 128th in the world. According to ESI (Essential Science Indicators by US Institute For Scientific Information) (May 2019), 13 disciplines of USTC (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Geoscience, Biology and Biochemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Clinical Medicine, Environment and Ecology, Social Science, Botany and Zoology, Molecular Biology and Genetics) hit the top 1% worldwide, while Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, and Engineering are positioned within the top 1 ‰, taking the firm lead in domestic universities.
